Pumpkining, Chilling, and grilling with family and friends

Up early to make chocolate cake. Nope, no vegetable oil. Denny figured that we could put up our 2 wooden tables in the sunroom for everyone to eat at this evening. I decided not to head up north to look at Bogenrief glass. We went to Jensen's grainery and read a chapter in the Gorge Mueller book. Then to IG. Evan needs a beard for a costume. Luckily Marilyn was at Dose and let me in to buy a cord to make a beard. Nancy went to library with kids. At home the Grands divided the craft stuff Nancy had brought between the 2 families. while I worked on the beard. Luckily Missy found a hat to pin the beard to because it wasn't working to hook the 2 loops over Evan's ears. While we had the kids, Missy fixed lunch for us. Denny came home from work and getting supplies glasses in IG and started recleaning the floors and vacuuming up beetles in the coop. Schrums got here... Jean and I started the fire out there, then we visited. When I came back in the house Gail, Bruce, Beth and Stephen were here. It was about time to head to Bergmans. Mandy, Jason, Missy and Phillip met us there. Fun to watch a pumpkin explode out of the canon propelled by air pressure. We did it twice, then headed home. Jensens went Tor T in Arthur. I thought the meat Denny grilled turned out great. Everyone had a good time. While I was over visiting with Brenda, someone got out the cheese curds to add to the cowboy caviar, salsa, chips, pesto, and jalapeno poppers I already had out for snacks. After eating we went otu to the coop and played heads up and had dessert. Fun night. Hendersons, Schrums, Zimmermans stayed in the basement. Nancy was in Luke's room and Jason and Mandy brought their air mattress for the computer room. Fun to have everyone here.

Friday with Gail and Nancy

It frosted last night and everything looks so pretty. I took pictures before heading to Atlantic.
I got down there about 9:30. I worked on beaded tethers for pens, looked at pictures, played jokers, and went shopping with Nancy and Gail. While Bruce went to insurance meeting, Gail and I took the golf cart to dig up geraniums to take to Texas. Nan and I got back home about 5. We chilled with Denny and visited in the living room. FOR TOO LONG, I guess because when we got to AK Corral they were out of prime rib. The Cajun grilled prime rib and shrimp were not available. What a bummer!! Great salad bar, but not quite the meat I was longing for. Still a good life. :)

End of first quarter

Regular day at school. One para was gone, I met Susan at the hospital for lunch. Was pretty great to leave school with 1/4th of the year done. We gave little bags of candy to paras. I stopped at Doses, Food pride before heading home. Denny was busy getting ready for company after he got home.
Earlier this morning ......

Nancy and Jean had met up with Gail in Bevington on Thursday and Gail brought Nancy to Atlantic. Scott met them and Gail and Nancy went down to Oseola to look at a stone house that Scott had built. Here are some pictures. It is amazing!!! The stone walls go thru to the inside of the house. It won't be good for winter with no inslation in the walls, but I don't think the owner is planning to live in it during the winter, instead of living in their Florida home.

Banana split night :)

We were a little slow this am. Phillip came over looking for socks for Crazy sock day for red ribbon week. Hopefully I will get pictures. Regular day at school. Independent living class peeled potatoes for French fries. I gave whole class probes to a Freshman / Sophomore English class. One student went home sick. I took homework to a student after school and picked up pizza that I ordered. I went home after leaving the pizza at church. Quick nap. Then back to over 204 at church for banana split night. WOW!!

More extra hours at school.

In bed until 6 looking at the computer. It was a long day at school today 8-8. I worked an extra 4 hours as flex workday so I don't have to work on Friday (the last day of the quarter workday). I'm looking forward to getting together with my sisters that day. After school I picked up flowers from Cindy's and took them to a student. The flowers really turned out pretty. I think the student really liked them. At school I got most of what I wanted done. During the day, by mistake, I sent the email draft with the grades for the quarter that I made and was correcting. UFFTA!! I had to write and tell the receiver to disregard the email. When I got home after 8 Denny was ready to give me a shoulder massage. We used some Sleep body lotion that Susan gave me. :) Thanks, Susan. We chilled in the sunroom with piano music on. How did I get so lucky to have Denny for a husband. It was so nice after 2 long days at school. Phillip got a tractor. It was delivered to him. He and Denny try it out. October 29th, I think.

To Sioux City

Picked up Nak kids for donuts with the grands. Nice SS class. After church we had Mac and Cheese with Naks and Lois. Then I took Laura to SC to see Jon's friend in the hospital. I shopped Good will for sweaters / etc. for Laura.

Saturday. Oct 24

Wow did the house get cleaned. It was much in need. Denny just kept plowing through. From the stove top to the basement floor that was discolored from the sump pump. I cleaned refrig. And cooked the pizza for lunch. Anabel and Evan are both sick. We helped Missy and Phillip move furniture the the Grainery. Queen size mattress to the loft. Big old bank desk, futon from basement. Chairs from CSA and machine shed. They had gotten rugs from Luann's IG house. I had Luann over for tea at 4. Denny drove the repos into Arthur I worked on school work Good day!

Dr. Appointment

Awake and Thankful it is Friday. Headed out about 8. Then to appointment at 11. We got the prescription changed. In Sioux City I met with a home school family. I shopped a little before heading home. I got a pizza at Back Draft and took it to IG. Mandy has a hair cut. After her cut, Mandy and I went to the city park and visited. Denny met us after work and we ate the pizza there. There were storms in Cherokee and so we waited until after the storms poured down rain in IG for Mandy to head home. Oh yuck, I left the car window open and it is a soggy mess in the Prius.

Thursday Oct 22 Peeled potatoes

I went to school early and sat in on the superintendent's visit at the elementary school. Injury continues. Spa test tomorrow. I checked with Mr. about working Monday and Tuesday an extra 4 hours. He okayed it. Indepepndt living fixed biscuit and gravy. Upset student with detention. Some times I can't win. Left sub note for Jackie. Plan to do my Thursday night planning on Monday and Tuesday work on grades. AFter school I went to Jensen's and peeled potatoes and carrots. Missy got home from an ISU outing for the girls to look at futures in science, math and technology. Missy said it was excellent. She gave us walking tacos for supper. YUM! Denny looked fo PBS on the TV so we could watch The Lost Schol at 7. Jensens came over ... it was very pixilated. UFFTA!! Denny was busy all night with cleaning a repo. It has been a nasty job on these two cars. We went to bedpretty much after the show. When I drove to school today the maple tree near the mailbox isstarting to turn a pretty fall color. Made my day.

Took Anabel to gymnastics

Up and to school for the day. After school I got permission to leave a little early and meet Phillip in Arthur. I had the back of car loaded with cans and bottles. Great. The redemption center closed at four. I didn't want to bring all the160 home. So I just left them there. At Jensens Phillip put 7 windows in the Grainery. I pulled a pig for him. He has 9 farrowing in this batch. We fixed one pot meal plus browned hamburgers with red peppers. After supper Denny and I visited in the sunroom. Why am I so tired??? Another day at school

Quickly got flowers together for Susan's birthday and some note cards. It was still dark. Luckily, I had the flowers picked and could put them together in the CSA barn. Missy is on her way to DM for a tag conference. One teacher wants the whole class probe on this Wednesday, one next Wednesday. It will be good to get them done. Pictures from past 1987??:

Good day at school except for drawing of chariot by step father. Uffta. Went down to pick up my new glasses,but the left lens is so blurry. Pink out Volleyball

Work on the computer in bed in am. Student email about blending applesauce before school. It went well. All my students are here today, but tomorrow 2 have appointments. Ind Lving fixed tacos, applesauce and cheesey green beans. Good day. I stayed after school and worked on school plans, then I went to the volleyball game. It might freeze tonight or tomorrow night. I think I may try to put blankets on some flowers. Uffta!! Denny was going to move trees that he chopped down last Monday on Columbus day. Got home too late to cover flowers Denny was in bed. Slept 9:30-4;30 SKY BLUE PINK ON THE WAY TO SCHOOL

Hair cut Awana

At school early. Met with Mr. Miller with L&D. A student went home sick. PD after school was pretty good again. I enjoy the trivia questions Mr. Miller poses before each session. My table only had me. Good discussion on lock down procedure. There was a panel discussion that I didn't go to. Lord, help as I plan and video my teaching time. I enjoy the book discussion during PLC. After I school headed to Wall Lake for haircut. Then to Awana. Missy took Brooks home from Awana sick. Good night at church. Beautiful sunny day

Hope to get together with Beth this am. I forgot to contact her, so we didn't visit. Maybe i will call after school. I went to Foodpride to get groceries for Ind. Living. It was pretty fun with help. Then home after school to work outside. Well, I didnn't actually work outside. I strted burning the tree branches that were on the west side on the coop. Denny came home and grilled pork steaks, poppers, and squash and onions. Beautiful night just to be ouotside and enjoying the night. Denny said,"This is why I work, so we can be together here on nights like this." It was a nice night.

Cross country meet at IG

Good nights sleep. :) I was around early and went to school early. Met Beth B. out in the parking lot. She is here for a few days. Noah wanted to visit during their fall weeks break. During 3rd hour Donna and I worked on the whole school probe. Independent living they cut up apples for applesauce. A student went home sick during 7th hour when I texted parent. We had a lock down drill during success. The ICN does not have phone hookup. I forgot about not opening door after intercom message. Lord, give me wisdom if that ever should happen. After school quick room meeting. Then I changed clothes and went to help with cross country meet. It was fun to visit with Cathy and Diane as I wrote down bib numbers. I stopped at the grocery store for eggs and to get another big pork roast at $1 per pound. Denny cut half of it into pieces to grill. It is Columbus day and he didn't work at the bank, but he did work. He had moved dirt, raked, spread grass seed, cut down trees and tordoned them in the fence line, terrace and along the creek. At night he helped get the computer to download my phone pictures. The newly worked on Grainery at Jensens. Phillip is putting windows in it, too.

Before 9 I headed to Kiron to pick up a flower basket. Great to be outside working with flowers. Pick 150 dahlias 70 lisianthus and some greenery. Put together flower baskets for Arthur, Kiron, and Onawa where Nakasawas are headed. Denny ran the bobcat and moved and filled in dirt around buildings where ground hogs like to dig. Ground hogs are nasty. Jensens are working on Grainery, putting lindseed oil on the walls. Vacuuming up dust(Anabel). I think it will really make a useable space. Howard and Anabel would have gotten such a kick out of it. We worked outside until 4:30. Then a quick shower and I went to IG to get ice cream before Awana meeting. Five others were there. It is good to get together and pray about needs. At home we watched a couple of episodes of Secretary of state before going to sleep.
