Monday October 31

Coffee at folks, Mom was sitting in kitchen. At school Cathy helped with L's behavior rubric. At 5:30 I rode with Missy and Grands to BC nursing home. Hot dogs after trick or treating. Then I went to folks, for I am Angus. But Howard was not on the show. Long day. I'm tired. Great to see Karen and Luke this weekend in St. Jo.

Sunday October 30

Church at 8:30. Connection groups fixes food on the 5th Sunday of the month. The picture is from the Pumpkin patch. We left after church and made a quick stop in Atlantic to see Henderson's new place. Home about 4 and a quick nap. Denny headed into prayer time. I worked on school work. Too short of weekend. When we stopped at the folks, Linda had just left. Mom still resting in bed.

jSaturday October 29

Grands came in about 7 to see us in the living room. Great egg casserole for breakfast. About 9:15 we headed to Torren's football game. Pretty funny/fun time. Quite a cheering section. He even made a touchdown. Denny laughed and thought that some of the 3-5 year olds arrived in strollers. The main thing the opposing coaches said was,"Stay in the place I put you." As they lifted the players up and put them down where they should be. After the big game, we went to Hunts pumplkin patch. Then home for yummy chili, naps and relaxing. Denny bought pizza for supper and we played wi games. Great day.

Friday October 28

No school. I had coffee upstairs, then at 8 went to folks. Denny was still there,Anabel was sitting up in bed, not feeling good. Howard had a urology appointment in SC. He and I left at 8:30, dropping the Prius at Rupps to get a tire fixed. We made it to Dr. and Howard's status continues about the same. We drove to Sports Clip by best buy so he could get a haircut. Got home about 4 after stopping in IG to get some soup for their supper. Anabel was still feeling punk. Linda Called and came to check her out about 7. They went it to ER and blood work checked out ok. We headed to ST. Joseph about 7:30 and got there around 11.

Thursday October 27

Coffee at folks. Anabel is still using a walker, but says she is doing fine. Missy noticed a bruise on her forehead temple yesterday. She must have fallen on Saturday, but says she is doing fine. There was a 2 hour late start this am. It was because of the late football game which we lost in Rock Valley 40 - 0. Karen and Carol G. stopped by in the am on their way to Des Moines. Missy subbed for Mrs. C. My independent living class fixed a quick meal because of shortened class periods. The second hour class was 14 minutes long...therefore we fixed Ramen Noodles (boil 3 minutes) Corn dogs (35 seconds in microwave) and microwave smores (15 seconds). Talk about eating fast. School got out a 2:30. I ran on the treadmill for about 30 minutes then pumped iron...realy 5 pound weights for 10 minutes ... and did a few crunches. Then back to parent teacher conferences from 4 to 7:30. About another 5 families came in. 10 out of 45 students. At home Denny and I visited, then put air in the Prius tires and looked for another cot to make the trip to St. Joe tomorrow for the big football game. I wonder what color to wear... I think Torren's jersey is blue. GO BIG BLUE!!! Looking forward to seeing the Mo. Johnsons

Wednesday October 26

Coffee at folks. Pep fest at school. So great that both the girls and boys cross country teams are going to the state meet Saturday. Visited with Bob S. He said it really helped that Bruce gave him the low down (or the information that the race would be a hilly one). I had an IEP at 3. AG Then to church. Banana Split night. Pretty full place. Thank the Lord for many workers. Denny said there was a total of 225 tonight at the Arthur church. Laurie J. is here for a couple days enjoying the grands. Good to have her visit Awana. Jensens did the council time with a farmer and pumpkins and gooey icky stuff in the middle. Phillip played guitar and lead singing after the parable. This pic is of Keith and Katie. Yes Keith got in several pictures by running beside the "real" runners. I know they appreciated his presence.

Tuesday October 25

Mom is walking with a walker. She is feeling dizzy. She did go in for the platelet shot Monday and Tuesday. After school I ran 3 miles on the trail, then I met Denny at the rec center. My student had gotten corn dogs and milk during math class when we went to the grocery store. I gave her $10, we looked at the ad, I needed milk and told her to get us something else that Denny and I could eat for supper. This picture is from the half marathon. K&J are running. You can see the crowd of spectators, cheering the runners on. It was a fun day.

Monday October 24

Anabel had the walker out this am. She is dizzy and needed the support. Little A went with me. What a joy to have her along. After school I weighed in at rec center...with no real progress. Didn't swim with sue. :( Too much stress of things. Conferences from 4- 7:30. Home with Denny :) Long day...I'm tired. Kids were pretty cute on sand area park by river in Linn Grove. 5 of 15 of my families came to PT conferences.

Sunday October 23

Took E&A for donuts before church. Then after church we headed to Linn Grove to see Ben and Becca. It was great weather. They live in a spacious upstairs apartment in downtown LG. About 1/2 mile from the river. We were there until about 2:45...them back home for naps. It took us about an hour to get home taking county roads and not going through Storm Lake. Then naps for us and church at 6. Nice day.

Saturday October 22

Denny worked in Odebolt. We went to folks for coffee. I submitted 2 more 5 point assignments for 431. A lot of time...very little worth/value. After lunch we cleaned the bunkhouse/garage. Denny took boys into town and went to Bomgaars. Wee took Dahlias to the folks root cellar for winter storage. Missy and Phillip had SS class- eight families came at 5 to the farm. Bergmans stayed later and talked out in the coop.

Friday October 21

Early for coffee. The folks seemed pretty tired and weak. I'm sure that chemo is hard on Anabel, but she just doesn't complain. At school there was the monthly staff meeting at 8. After school I swam with Sue G. for an hour, then I went to Arthur to read the paper until 6 when Denny got off work. We chilled a little after work and had pizza, then we went to work cleaning the apartment. Moved and vacuumed, dusted, rugs shook out, Good to get it all done.

Thursday October 20

Coffee at folks. Denny had an early meeting in IG. Students in Independent living made tomato soup, grilled cheese sandwiches, and yogurt parfait to eat and meat loaf to freeze. Mandy has been studying these past months and now has more initials after her vocational name. Way to Go!! This is a gal she works with. We were at the concert in the park in Denver. Such a great night...only tooo long of lines at the portapots. There were about 10,000? people at the concert. Earlier that day in Denver there was about four times as many portapots at the triathlon for 2,400 runners. Quite an inequity. I ran the trail with Carol S. after school. Then worked at school til 7. Just putsn around. Denny tried to go out and cut some fire wood, but it didn't work the best for him. I started an IEP for AG after I got home...always lots to do. Missy took Michael to BV for a college visit.

Then to Awana for the store and to lead games. 192 total count at Wed night for youth. Dear Jesus, may they come to know you. Bless the many leaders who love You and share Your love with kids who need it so much.

Tuesday October 18

Anabel is having her chemo today. Her platelet count was up to 118 at her blood test yesterday. Still trying to deal with students who are not putting in the effort and are failing classes. Many of the classes are required and there is no easy way to pass them. They have to study at home. Now that's a new concept. After school I headed to Holstein and weighed in at WW. Denny and I visited in coop. Missy vacumned up beetles and mowed the lawn today.

Monday October 17

I traveled with an AEA lady to Emmetsburg to tour the SAVE program at the Iowa Lakes community college. Missy subbed for me. Different not being in the classroom. I'm glad she like my students. I think they are very nice. After school I worked at school catching up for what I didn't get done. At 7:30 Denny went to a powder suppliment meeting at the rec center. I went home and went to bed at 8.

Denny went on a motorcycle ride to Mondamin Orchard.

Saturday October 15

Up at 6. Headed to Atlantic to go with Gail to Des Moines and Indianola. First we headed to 9th and Cherry, to a architectural ware house salvage. Scott and Beth had a area with their stuff in the parking lot where a lot of venders were. After looking around we went to an apartment building where they used salvage from the ware house to furnish the apartments. From there to Jean's for lunch. We spent the rest of Saturday just hanging out. Spaghetti for supper, and more talking and playing ticket to ride.
Great Day!!! with family.

Coffee at folks. Anabel said she felt better that yesterday. That is good news, but she still seems pretty tired. UNBELIEVEable! One quarter of the school year is over. One half of the projects of 431 are turned in. After school Denny and I met in IG and got groceries for Awana meeting Saturday night. I'm pretty excited about seeing the Mo. Grands tomorrow in Kingsley. I'm sure Kane has grown too much. We ate brats out on the deck with glacamole and chips and Grands. Yippee!

Tuesday October 11

Mom can not have chemo today. Her platelets were lower than last week. I wondered. She seemed really tired lately. Keep her in your prayers. What a trooper she is...never complains...always interested in others. She appreciates talking to her kids and grands, so keep the phone calls coming. At 3 I had an IEP meeting for CM. At 4 I met 2 home school families in Battle Creek. I stopped and got a few groceries. At 5:30 I rode 6 miles on stationary bike while I watched the news, Denny joined me. At 6:45 Brooks joined us and he and I headed home. Fixed hamburgers for supper, I'm tired enough to go to bed, but should do a little on Morningside 431. ICK So instead I'm doing the blog. We are so blessed, may we live each day for Jesus. Love you all.

Monday October 10

Happy Birthday Susan!
Coffee at folks, Denny went over with me. He had Columbus Day off and spent most of the day trying to get compost out of lower building. He also took a load of metal to Schau's. After school I weighed in; I had gained one year in age...and my goal was to be one year younger. I knew these last two weeks were tough on me. I helped with chute for JV at the cross country meet. GREAT WEATHER for meet. At home I worked on C IEP. Denny fixed us pizza for supper. AND when I went to post this somehow it got to
Drop everything and read (That is the 10th grade English blog at school)... UFFTA!!

Sunday October 9

It's pretty fun to have the Grands down before SS donuts on Sunday ams. I got some Awana store items at Dollar General yesterday, got them marked and took them to church. Last night we went to Teresa B. wedding. Actually Denny hauled out compost with Manure hauler yesterday until 1 and he went to the wedding in Danbury. I was lucky enoughto stay home and work on my class 431. He came and got me at 4 and we went to the reception. I got to wear my Denver dress ( which my girls helped me pick out.) Grandpa Alan came to visit the farm on Saturday. At the wedding it was fun to talk to people. Nice visit with Kristin Z. one of Mandy's classmates. Sunday afternoon I worked on an IEP. Denny washed the jeep and the pickup. Such a great husband. We went to prayer meeting at 6.

Saturday October 8

HAPPY BIRTHDAY BECKY!!! Hope your day was great!! You are loved. Happy Birthday brother Keith, too. Happy anniversary Betsy and Wade! Quite an important day!
I got up early and worked on 431. I got one assignment done and I had figured as a reward I would go into the hospital. They were having a pink walk/run etc. for a new mammo machine. First time event. About 200 t shirts were given out with registrations. I got the last 2. One for Anabel and one for me. I bought a peach pie at the bake sale for Howard.

Friday October 7

I have had a lot of things that I wish I were more proactive with. but Friday is great!!! Just like the kids...problems at school don't exist when you are not at school. Although I am sure the problems will not disappear, Hopefully they will just evaporate. I ran the trail after school. Then home and fixed orange chicken, stir fried vegetables, and guacamole dip for supper with the neighbors. I was so saddened when i looked more closely at the 4331 class syllabus. I have a small term paper due with 3 references. UFFTA!! just what I did not want to find out. More stress, but of course problems don't exist when we are not there at school. OH yeah, home is where I deal with the 431 problems. UFFTA The happy part of the day was when Logan indeed did pass by 60% his AR reading test.

Tuesday October 4

Coffee at folks. After school I rode down to the rec center and ran the trail before meeting Denny on the stationary bikes to watch the 5:30 news. How is that for an exciting day? I really can't remember what I did...which is why I should never wait 2 days til I post.

I tried to clean upholstery in Prius.

Saturday October 1

We got up early. Awana conference in Des Moines. We picked up Laura S. about 6. We used Iphone map to get to the right place. It was so handy!! I looked and Denny drove. The conference was very good. A great video during the first session. It would be good to use it in church. Denny and I were recognized for helping with Awana 25+ years. We got coffee mugs. After the conference we used the Map to get to Trader Joes. Then home. We stopped at Coon Rapids in a park to eat the sushi we got at TJ's. It was the first time we had sushi I and thought we should really eat it on a table instead of riding in a car. I thought it was very good. Denny said he probably wouldn't order it. (I think give him a few years, he'll change his tune.) So great to visit with Laura about Awana and life. We got home about 9. 15 hours later. I found out I got 10 on that "1 hour-45 minute" quiz over Chapter 6 I took Friday night. Now, I have to get ready for a quiz on Chapter 7 and Chapter 8
