Nice slow morning with a list of "to-dos". Clean off table, clean off desk in computer room, Take policies to safe in basement, Go thru paper work in the safe, Pay bills, Print out return labels, Box up items bought with return labels, wrap presents, Figure out how to work Jack's gift... fix Jack's broken Christmas gift, recharge Jack's gift, naps, Awana. I took 2 small elephant to Bradley C. and Tristin G.
I went to volunteer at the OGT. The group went to lunch at the bowling alley afterward. Denny drove to IG to have the upper and lower of the front end of the car. done, ball joints pressed in and ball joints pressed out and in by Brad Segebart next to Napa. At home I rested, Denny went to Carroll to get a new key for Rav 4. At 4:30 I met Bergmans and Brenda's mother Gert in Arthur to drive to SC. First we went to Anthon to the Fireside for supper. YUM!!!! Then we headed to the Orpheum at Sioux City to watch the Mannheim SteamRoller Concert. They were so good. FUN concert!! I got home around 11. AMAZING GIFT!!! They are so kind and generous!!! I'm so thankful!!
I played PB in IG 8:30-10:45, then went to Denny’s shoulder appointment @11. I left IG and drove to Ames with a book for Jensens. On the way home I got a call from Brenda B “Would I like to use their extra ticket to Mannheim Steam Rollers at the Orpheim in SC?" ???? Would I????? YES!!!!! …. It would be tomorrow night and they would treat me and Brenda's mom, Gert, to supper before the concert. Denny had Lance Barnum come and work on the orange. We had a great supper Iowa Chops, poppers, and a salad that had leftover veggies.
I was in bed until 7, shower, and pack up to go to church by 8. Matt's family lite the first advent candle for both services. We went out to eat at Punch P8izza. and headed home about 12:45. Denny drove all the way. We stopped at Porter's open house and got yummy snacks there before the final leg of going home.
Nice lazy morning. Coffee A fireplace on. Dog and Cat. Becky went to church for a ladies Christmas brunch. We went to the tree farm where TJ works. It was fun to see. When Becky came home we had chili YUM!!! and watched football in the afternoon. Becky fixed a great pot roast, s\brussl sprouts and potato wedges for supper. Olivia and Tj fixed cinnamon flake star roll for dessert. At night we watched Elf.
Up and devo in the4 sunroom. We cleaned the airbnb and straightened the house. About 9:45 we left for Zimmerman. Out guest left about 7 and we have 4 hunters and 2 dogs coming in this afternoon. We are headed to a Zimmerman Basketball game. They won; TJ played a good game, 4/5 free throws., lots of rebounds, At least rebounding 2 of his shots.
STORY FROM FACEBOOK: My parents were married for 55 years. One morning, my mom was going downstairs to make dad breakfast, she had a heart attack and fell. My father picked her up as best he could and almost dragged her into the truck. At full speed, without respecting traffic lights, he drove her to the hospital. When he arrived, unfortunately she was no longer with us. During the funeral, my father did not speak; his gaze was lost. He hardly cried. That night, his children joined him. In an atmosphere of pain and nostalgia, we remembered beautiful anecdotes and he asked my brother, a theologian, to tell him where Mom would be at that moment. My brother began to talk about life after death and guesses as to how and where she would be. My father listened carefully. Suddenly he asked us to take him to the cemetery. "Dad!" we replied, "it's 11 at night, we can't go to the cemetery right now!" He raised his voice, and with a glazed look he said: "Don't argue with me, please don't argue with the man who just lost his wife of 55 years." There was a moment of respectful silence, we didn't argue anymore. We went to the cemetery. With a flashlight we reached her grave. My father sat down, prayed, and told his children: "It was 55 years... you know? No one can really talk about true love if haven't done life with a person." He paused and wiped his face. "She and I, we were together in the good and in the bad." he continued. "When I changed jobs, we packed up when we sold the house and moved. We shared the joy of seeing our children become parents, together we mourned the departure of loved ones, we prayed together in the waiting room of some hospitals, we supported each other in pain, we hugged one another each day, and we forgave mistakes." And then he paused and added, "Children, that's all gone and I'm happy tonight. Do you know why I'm happy? Because she left before me. She didn't have to go through the agony and pain of burying me, of being left alone after my departure. I will be the one to go through that, and I thank God for that. I love her so much that I wouldn't have liked her to suffer..." When my father finished speaking, my brothers and I had tears streaming down our faces. We hugged him and he comforted us, "It's okay. We can go home. It's been a good day." That night I understood what true love is. It is more than just romanticism and sex, it's two people who stand beside one another, who are committed to one another ... through all the good and bad that life throws at you. (Hope I go first)
I shopped at Dose 50% off sale and got a coffee piece for the bunkhouse. I went in to met dermatology appointment. Dr. S freeze tr4eted 2 spots. At home Denny and I drove to Holstein to pick up a Market place purchase. We moved Keelies house to the barn and screwed the loose boards in place. I took a quick nap and then went to Study.
