LISIANTHUS SEED STARTING:This fool proof set and forget method is too good not to share. If you are tired of babysitting your seeds and having to mist them constantly, try this germination method. I’ve recently germinated over 2000 seeds using this method. Credit to Jennifer. 1. Filled my Winstrip tray 128s with Sungro seed starting mix. I watered well, sowed on the surface with 2 seeds per cell. Mist the pelleted seeds well. Repeat misting a couple more times to make sure all the pellets are wet. It’s not necessary for the pellets to dissolve all the way but important that they are wet. (I think other trays would work if they have openings at the bottom of the cells. Sorry soil blocks tend to fall apart so I don’t recommend them for this method.) 2. This is the KEY. I set my Winstrip tray in a half inch of water. The mix needs to be saturated the entire time until germination. I used a 1020 tray. The fit is a little tight, but it got the job done. It’s very important to have high moisture and high humidity during germination. 3. Cover with a clear dome. Put it on a shelf in my kitchen under grow lights with a timer 16 hrs on a day. I didn’t need a a heat mat because of the warmth from the grow lights and because they are in my kitchen where the temperature is in the high 60s to low 70s. 4. This is the hard part. Do nothing for the next 8-10 days. (Go on a vacation.) 5. Uncover to see cute little sprouts. It’s like magic. Pour out any extra water in the tray. Pat yourself on the back and get ready to start the next stage which is an entirely different process. https://www.facebook.com/groups/198146460815037/permalink/739116656718012/?mibextid=W9rl1R
