Set up Awana store

Got to school pretty early ... an exit from SPED program at 8 am. Independent living fixed hamburger with BBQ and pineapple wrapped and held securely with tooth picks. IEP meeting at 3:30, that went really well. At 5 we went to church and Lozier 6 helped to set up the Awana store. Then back to IG to get battery for garage door opener and work out at rec center. I did 3 miles , Denny walked 3. He broiled burgers for supper. Phillip came down for a really nice visit. NOW it is past my bed time. Better take cold medicine and head to bed. Jonathon N speaks at church

It seems like a while since we had donuts before SS. Great to do it again today. The kids sang during the service. It is always encouraging to see the little ones up there. Last night Denny and I ate Mexican ... so good. AND yesterday Denny got to try bacon from the red wattle who only had 5 baby pigs. Oh Gretel, you should have had more babies. Can you believe that bacon? Denny is a breakfast meat boy. He usually fixed a quarter pound sausage pattie for breakfast. There were 4 slices in this package. Did we have them put the bacon in one pound packages??? Is each slice a quarter pound. Uffta!!! What a Hog heaven for us, not Gretel. This afternoon Denny washed the Jeep in town and wiped it down in the garage. He wiped down the pickup. I watched the kids for Jensen's Bible study. Denny went to prayer time at church. Pictures are what I explained earlier.

A day to stay home and get a little more organized

The end of one semester and start of another is such a time for disorganization. I tried to put stuff in 3 ring binders. Hard to know what to do with the stuff. We got a nice phone call from Mandy last night telling us of the tough week she had had, ... and that she was heading up the mountain to do some relaxing and go skiing. I wokrd on school work all day and Denny worked ouotside to get things running. Phillip and Missy had 6 youth out. About 5 Denny and I went to Carroll for a Walmart run and Mexican food. It was really good. Nice day. Pictures are to help me remember just how fast a world can change. We were having a tea party on our bed in Dubuque on Saturday morning, December 1 at 7:45 am. The swimming suites were on ...we were ready to head down to the water park. Torren went out by the door to wait, and some how the door got shut on his finger. Uffta. So painful!!! He was a trooper though and in time joined the others downstairs. He even toughed up enough to take some mean swipes at the pinata.

Friday after a short week ... Visit Aikens

Missy had worked so hard getting 10 meals ready for families from church. I delivered 3 meals ... to Rydbergs, Balders and Steve & Joyce before I went to school. School was another day. One teacher thought I interrupted her and I had to apologize. Lord, keep teaching me how to work with others. I hung around after school, thinking that Denny would be going to Aikens to visit after work, but when I call his at 6, there was no answer. I made several calls, no answer. Finally, I drove to Johns and he was there. At home we chilled, he went to bed and I spread all my school stuff on the floor of the living room with hopes of organizing it. Pictures are of December wedding in Dubuque.

Kids to school ... 2nd semester starts

Here we go. I am going to American history class this semester. Mrs. F always had a topic of news ready for Mr. N. We'll see if I can find anything news worthy. I have 5 classes I teach. Plus a study hall, and a prep period. After school I met Denny at hospital. We visited Paul L, then ate a the hospital cafeteria. I got groceries, At home Missy was finishing up meals for families at church. I had gotten York mints for the dessert. Pictures are of Becca and Raelyn. They were having fun at the wedding. It cracked me up the Kane sometimes stands with his head down by his feet. He does not go into a somersault, just stands there like the picture. What a cutie at the rec center and in our apartment!

Professional Development ... real world

I opened the school door for Mr. U. As we walked down the hall I asked him if he knew Melissa J. was my daughter. He said "No." and said she was doing a very good job. Profess. Dev went from 8 - 12. I went to sessions on Ipad, Promentian Board, Google docs and computer importance. For lunch I gave Kim M. a ride to Family Table and had a Reuben sandwich. . Back to school to work on who teaches what, second quarter and first semester grades, and what to teach tomorrow. and what to do with paper work stuff from the classes I taught last semester. I worked on an IEP and met Denny at rec center about 7:30. I ran/walked 3 miles, then we came home. Missy had bought groceries and made a meal for about 10 families. Pictures are from December wedding. Father of the Bride, Keith was having a very good time.
