Newhouse Century Farm

Up and I got coffee at Keiths and went to sit and wait for the sun to rise at the farm where I grew up.  I have so much to be thankful for and most of it started/occurred right here.  Dear Lord, Thank you so much.   

Travel to Burr Oak

 Well, I was awake at dark thirty and tired to fall back asleep.  When I couldn't I got in the car and headed north.  I got to Decorah about 8:30.  I went to the tennis courts and YES they were playing pickleball.  I played until 10, then went to the Depot and bought a duvet cover and white shelf to display a pretty white/blue  platter in the bunk house.   I can get the rug I saw the last time I was in Decorah.   I think it will go well in the bunk house.  I went to Craigs.  He has his garage set up with pictures/ clippings/ information about the century farm.  Jean was heading to Burr Oak to meet with a classmate.  I just sat in the garage.  Keith, Bruce and Arlan were golfing.  Gail and Bruce biked in Ridgeway and then came to Craigs.   At 1:45 were went to play pickleball at Keiths.  SO MUCH FUN!!!  Bruce had corn, salads and pulled pork for supper around 5:30.  All 7 of us siblings were there.   I was planning to spend the night at Bev and Merle's if all sleeping areas were full with nieces, but only Beth and Stephens family were there, so Bruce offered the pull out bed in the basement and I took him up on it and texted Bev that my plans had changed and I was staying with one of the brothers.  Bruce had a fire going, but I just stayed inside and visited.   Strangly I had really bad leg cramps.  I headed to bed about 10.  Wonderful Day!!! So glad I am here with my people.  Thank you Jesus.  

Crazy good golfing on my part

 I was up and headed to Denison by 7:30.  Little did I know that I would play crazy good golf that day!!!  Gail had signed us up for a 2 gal best ball at the MAGESTIC hills golf course.   I had heard that the course was treacherous.  After playing it I agree whole heartedly.  I would not be wanting to play my own ball on that course.  YUCK!!!  I think I would call it  MALEVOLENT  (malicious, spiteful, hostile, evil-minded, baleful, bitter, evil-intentioned, poisonous, venomous, evil, malign, malignant, rancorous, vicious, vindictive, revengeful, vengeful, pernicious cruel, fierce, nasty, unfriendly, unkind, ill-natured)  Just saying it was not a simple course ... It stretched over miles/ thru housing developments/ past a cemetery/ corn fields and all on very rolling fareways.  We are talking holes where the elevation changes 2000 feet from tee box to valley and back up 1000 feet to the green.  UFFDA!!

I digress ... Gail and I played REALLY WELL.  We shot a 32 on the front 9 and a 35 on the back nine.  That was unbelievable!!  My shot of the day was an approach using my pitching wedge from 63 feet (according to the distance gadget)  from the back side of the green.  AND IT WENT IN!!! giving us a 2 for hole 1.  Now that a huge help toward a 32 on the front 9.  

5th building painted yesterday

I went to prayer in the patio at Brittanie L. home at 6.  So nice.  15 women there.  Brittany, Kim Gwen E. Claire and Stephanie, Rachel, Ruth, Jenna, ?, Kendall, ?,Kelly D. ? D.   Then to pickleball until my 9 am haircut.  Another game of pickleball and home.  Denny had started cleaning after airbnbers left.  After supper I carried furniture to the bunkhouse upstairs.   It's fun to have it usable, not completed, but a work in progress.  

Amazing day!!

Slept in until 6.  Devo.   And to IG by 7:30 where I played pickle ball until 9.  I was so happy to see that Sharon had the painters add lines to the tennis courts to make 2 more pickleball courts.  I don't know how she got'erdone, but there they were.  Of course many comments how we can tell the difference when we are playing .... but I think if it is a bothersome ... you sit on the bench and wait until the "REAL" courts become available.  I went to OGT.   While there I was so happy that Nancy F. said she had a key to the Stage Coach Inn.  We went out there and I toured the house.  SO COOL!!!   I headed for SC after that.  I stopped and got a duvet cover at bed bath and beyond, then got a knife sharpener at Target.  Then to Crystal at Dunes dermatology.  She froze off one spot and lanced another spot only face.  I headed home.  Denny was smoking chicken.  I made fresh corn salad and he finished painting the garden shed.!!! HURRAH!!! The last on the list of "must do list".  Now for time in the bunk house.

 

Golf at Twin Lakes

Up and met Shirley H, Maebelle, Sharon and Sharon at church.  So thankful that they let me ride with them.  I played with Jan L. and Ellen F.  We shot a 36.  She shot at 38.  At home Denny was peel freeing the garden shed.  Our airbnb, Brianne and Greg came and we visited with them.  After a bite we went out and finished painting the south and east side with  white. 

Sunday .... Fun Day

Up, devo, DAB, 2 cans of beans, Flowers,   We left for SS about 9, Denny filled with gas, and it was good to hear Claire and David talk about their work in Spain.  Mike, Brenda, Ben Denny and I left for Onawa, taking 175.  What a fun afternoon!!!  Darwin and Julie had their '69 Camero and were drag racing it.  It was a learning experience.  The weather was wonderful!!  The people were awesome.  AND much to learn.  Bergmans' bought our way in, paid for hamburgers, and bought ice cream on the way home.  THANKS!!  At home we washed for next airbnb, i put some flowers together for golf tomorrow and chilled on rockers with left over BBQ.
