Golf

Well, it's Saturday and I am just starting to catch up on my blog.  I don't think i have ever been so far behind.  Let's see what we can remember.

I headed to IG at 7:45 to play pickleball until I left for golfing at Holstein.  I rode in a cart with Joan T. and Jan and Jane were in our foursome.   It was a beautiful morning and the course was amazingly green and well kept.  I shot a 47, helped immensely by a chip in on the hole where I got the prize for the closest chip shot.  From there I headed to Carroll to get the car serviced.  I got home about 5.  Denny had caulked the cracks in the bunkhouse.  It looks so good.   I am working on a shower curtain that uses the design from wall paper from the bunk house.

Back home

I lay in bed until Denny got up 7:45.  Showers, pack and Luke made coffee before we headed to Zimmerman.   We had biscuits and gravy, fruit, sausage and eggs.  It was good just to sit and visit, not hurry off.  We helped to take down tables and fold chairs.  We did leave for home around 3:15, driving thru Mankato.   It was a fun weekend.

Praise!!! four year cancer free for Shaun

I got up and had devo on the deck.  Then I walked about 1 3/4 miles before everyone got up.  Luke fixed breakfast for kids and Denny.  We walked down to Minnetonka lake.  It was a beautiful morning.  After lunch Rose had a doctor appointment to get ready for kindergarten.  We left for Matt's about 3pm.  Family was there ... Hirshmans and Johnsons.

Cancer Anniversary!

It’s MRI time again.  Monday Sean is scheduled for one and we will see Dr AJ on Wednesday.  This month marks 4 years since he was diagnosed and given a year to 15 months to live!
*I’ve been thinking a lot about all the things that have taken place since June 28, 2018 and wow, how our lives have change so very much!  Sean was never to return to work, I retired, we’ve traveled - alot, we sold our home 🏠 and moved to a townhome, we graduated our daughter from high school and gotten her married, Dylan graduated from seminary, we’ve traveled…..more, and now we plan to welcome our first grandchild in December (yes, Dylan and Regan are expecting).  God is good!  So many changes and so much fun and plenty to be thankful for!!!  We’ve had sadness and tragedy as well, Sean lost his sister Ranae, I lost my brother Dennis, we’ve lost GBM warriors/friends. Life is hard and it certainly doesn’t always go “our” way but He walks us through these things and I’m so grateful for that.
*As I mentioned before we have done some traveling and we have a few more trips planned this summer and fall.   We visited Oahu in April and just returned from Alaska/Canada a bit ago.  We had a wonderful time and have seen so much beauty!   Very thankful to be able to do this.  We sold our camper as we decided it was too much work for Sean.  It really wore him out and so we are now building our Delta Sky Miles!
*Please pray for a good scan!  So thankful that he has felt good lately and able to stay busy.  We’ve been attending a Livestrong class at the YMCA for cancer patients.  We have met some terrific folks battling and also been learning more about keeping our bodies healthy and strong.
*Not much else to report until after the scan.  We are so very thankful to be on the verge of celebrating 🥳 four years since that dreadful day and diagnosis.  We are hoping for many more!
*Thank you all for your continued prayers and support

A day in Minnesota

I was up before the rest of the house.   Surprise, Surprise!  I had devo outside then went on a walk around the neighborhood for a mile and a half.  My knee/hip hurt a little as I walked.  Maybe if the blast IBP doesn't help I'll need to get on a prescription.  It was a great day.  After breakfast we walked to the lake, then play in the back yard, Then at 3 we headed to Zimmerman.  Luke drove us past the place where NG does demonstrations.  The machine shed is set up for Haley's graduation party tomorrow.  We visited with Frank and Jenny and the kids and when Matt and Becky got back from a grad party we had a wonderful meal of smoked pork.  Fun night just being with family!!

Heading north

I didn't sleep well, I went to the sunroom and listened to my book.  Well, I guess I really listened to / fell asleep to and then I slept until 6:45.  After airbnb left I started to clean it and do bedding.  At 9 I headed in to play PB. There were 8 0f us there.  I could play, but yes, my knee/hip did hurt.  I stopped at Doses and bought a shadow box to put Denny's grandma's wedding dress in.  Hopefully it will work.  We cleaned the prius after I got home.  And packed.  And left about 3:30. Hopefully to arrive at Lukes around 8 tonight.  Nice easy drive.  Twila and Irene are in NE Iowa hiking in county parks.  I told them to stop and visit my brother Craig.

Cherokee boys **** Haley graduates.

Well, I couldn't sleep very well, so I got up for devo, cleaned the kitchen, etc.  I went to Brittany's but the patio prayer was moved to Kiron.  I went home and got coffee from the bunkhouse.  I stopped in Holstein to get 4 patio pillows from Marketplace.  Another fun day with the boys.  We went to Wellness center, I played PB for about an hour, boys played in glass court, colored pictures, got Casey' donuts, school playground, and New Leaf.  At home the boys' toy jeep wasn't working right, so they parked it.  Tyler lay down to take a nap.  Jack played in the living room while I napped.   Jan texted about 2 to say she and Addy we going to a park, so we met them.  We went to 2 parks, I headed home about 4:30 stopping at Horn to see Kasey in Hospice.  She has been a friend for almost 40 years.  She came out for oBible study with Rhoze, Dede, LaurieJ. Gail H.  She has battled cancer for many years.  What an example!!!  At home visited with the airbnb couple until it was 7 pm.  Haley's graduation was live streamed. Denny grilled steaks and we had salad.  It was SO good.   I finished reading a looooong book, Invisible Child by Andrea Elliot.    The steaks were amazing.  AND DID I SAY ... Denny finished the south wall dry walling AND put in the 5 wall lights AND put in the sink light.  The bunk house looks amazing.   I played with pics art with the vision of making a shower curtain for compost toilet area.  The pattern mimics that wall paper that was in the bunkhouse.

Golf with Gail

I got up for devo, pick asparagus for our airbnb, pick rhubarb, 10 bunches of 10 stalks and a small vases for a person in the nursing home.  I left for Harlan.  The course is north of Harlan.  I played with Gail, Cindy and Sharon.   They are LONG ball hitters, and some holes they were out driven by LONG LONG ball hitters from Harlan and Denison.    4 gal best ball and we had 3 teams of 4 gals;  Even with long ball hitters thee were 12 of us to hit and it took a while.  We shot a 32 the first 9 and 37 the second nine.  Ending up with a 69 and 4th place in first flight.  $15 rebate per girl for that score.  I stopped to vote before heading home.  Denny had been busy cleaning the pickup.  Nice long day.
