Labor Day ... That is what we did!!

Nice slow morning. Coffee on the deck. I headed to garden to harvest flowers for CSA. Denny headed to the basement to shampoo carpets. About 11 I picked up the Grands and we went to aronia berries at Olde Town. then to the grocery store. Back home Missy fixed good chicken sandwiches. then we picked cherry tomatoes. About 4 Missy had Nakasawa kids over for Slip and Slide. I watched kids and picked off basil leaves while Missy made pesto. We came home for bed. Denny kept cleaning and putting back furniture. Summary of the book I read this weekend. John Ortberg "Soul Keeping." Keeper of the stream story. Allegory that we are the Keepers of our soul. You must ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life. Page 20 Dallas Willard was the same visiting with famous or janitors. Impatience, worry not part of his life. Inner life at peace with the life everyone else sees. page 38 Example of practicing the discipline of not having to have the last word. The most important thing in your life, is not what you do, but it's who you become. That's what you take into eternity. You are an unceasing spiritual being with an eternal destiny in God's great universe. page 23 What matters not is the accomplishments that you achieve, but the person you become. Slow unglamorous building of character... in me and my job. page 67 Dallas Willard ... Creative moments bring us joy. God was joyful during creation of the world.

Stayed in bed and read. Then to CSA to get flowers. I made food for potluck. We were a little late getting Grands for donuts. In SS only 2 Anabel and Sophi. Nice potluck for Aikens after church. Then home for naps and reading in bed. At 6 we headed to Loziers for the fire pit and fellowship. It was beautiful outside, but there were some bugs. Karen and Luke ran races in Cedar Rapids. Karen ran her first 10K. Luke ran a half. Way to GO!!!

Nice slow starts. Coffee on the deck with Denny. It rained ... again ... before we got out of bed. Denny was picking up branches that he trimmed last week and I started to mow across the road with the Dixon. It was fun to ride it again. I got stuck in a couple of mud puddles and then the front wheel came off. Uffta!! Grands were coming over for sugar donuts so we took them with us when we went to Denison for parts. No, they did not have the part at Volkerts. :( We did eat at McD. Happy meals and toys for kids. Vehicles to put stickers on What a treat! We made the donuts when we got home. They took them to share while Missy and Phillip picked apples at Cherry Creek. I got flowers for Susan and church. Denny started cutting the south pine by the mail box. I can't believe that we got it done!! He also trimmed some big branches off the Linden. The whole front yard got a haircut. I am really happy to have that job done. Denny sprayed off the bottom of the Grasshopper. I took sweet corn to Jensens, they shared chicken sandwiches. I started a fire of loose brush. We watched Netflix while sitting out by the fire. It was a beautiful night. This afternoon I started 2 trays on Aronia berries drying and 2 trays of Aronia berries freezing. What a good day ... except for me wrecking the lawn mower. :(

Home Football

At school early ... Student schedule changed. Questions about set up time for Vicki to help a student. After school, I had a relaxing visit with April. I picked about 7 pounds of Aronia berries. Now to think what to do with them. I looked on line... 2 pounds of frozen aronia berries sell $20 They are kind of tart. Denny and I went to the meal for school staff. We watched the first half of the football game. Susan and Gordon sat by us. Nice to visit. 13

Thursday Sept 3 Appointment

Picture day in Odebolt. I took curling iron over to Jensens. Denny was ready to leave for work when I got home. I got flowers ready for CSA and then went to the appointment. It turned out fine. Later in the afternoon I worked at home on school work. At 5 I went to the school to make lesson plans for the next 2 weeks. Then I stopped at the Farmer's market and got brats and sweet corn for us for supper. At home Denny was cleaning the Prius. Missy came over to wash her car. I mowed 2/3 of the lawn. Tree branches are down where Denny trimmed the trees. 12

2 IEPs one day

Got up early, I had devotions in bed last night when I couldn't sleep. I wore a dress o school today. That doesn't happen very often. We mixed up cookie dough in Ind. Living. Early out at 2. PD until 2:50. Done with IEPS at 4. I brought Taylor D. out to visit with Phillip about CSA. She enjoyed the flowers I gave her. Watched the news/napped. Supper out on the deck. Denny is going to try and fix the pole chainsaw. Random facebook pictures: 11

Happy Birthday Luke So glad you are my son

I texted Luke early. Wow what a great 32 years it has been Pictures are from this December where you continue to bring us smiles and laughter. We love you so much!!! Met HS mom in Administration office. Had picture taken on stage.Started to look at ipad for student. When a student was gone from one class I went to the grocery store to get ingredients. Back to have students help put them away. AFter school, I came home for CSA. Then to work on tomorrow's IEP. and substitue sheet. Denny cut down trees in fence line. Good night 10
