Got wheel up

Went running the section today ... with dog ... a truck came by ... dog ran in front of me ... As truck passed by I fell over the dog. Wish I could have seen it. I am sure it looked hilarious. I just went down flat. Now later my knees hurt. I wonder why. So dumb I am. Phillip got the fence stake pounder and put in posts by the garden gate ... wheel for a vine... and white trellis. Yesterday I went to Dose garage sale. This is the second time I have run into Janet’s M.’s daughter at Doses. She loves the place, too. It had ... just what I have been looking for. Last year for CSA, I had cut flowers, but no easy, efficient way to cut and display them. I like a big handled baskets that I can set on the ground as I cut flowers and put them in the containers. Glass jars don’t always sit flat in the basket and sometimes they break. And when I put the bunches of flowers on the table, it took up vegetable space. SO I HOPE these display cases will work out. Who would have thought Dose would have just what I have been looking for. We’ll see. Pictures are following.

Great Visit and day

Well, I am having a hard time getting internet outside by the CSA barn. I though it would be great to catch up on the blog and sit and watch the garden. I just got back from IG. Pretty productive and enjoyable morning. I met Lisa VK in town. Ken had a bank meeting so Lisa and I walked the trail until we met up with muddy part, then back to the car (after walking past the Baxter empty site and the ECC empty site). Then I drove out to Susan’s and we visited. She served fruit and cinnamon crunch bagels. YUM! It was great to catch up on news. VK’s are headed to DM to help Ashley move to a house in Waukee. Josh is working at a farmer’s coop this summer and playing college baseball in SC. Ben is pitching for a ball team possibly. He started Tuesday and has a 10 day trial contract with a ball team is out of Lacrosse, Wisconsin. They are playing at Grand Rapids, Michigan today and in LaCrosse this weekend. We went to hospital and had a salad lunch while we waited for Ken to get done with his meeting. It was nice to see Kara L. and Carol T. while we were eating. I drove to Hidden Acres green house to get some mulch and got 6 more plants for the garden. Then to two banks, Bomgaars, called school to check on some student grades, and Dose garage sale. Missy took tiller to Odebolt to get it fixed, then went to IG to get a mower that was repaired at John Deere. Every 20 minutes I am thankful for the sump pump that runs water into the furnace room in the basement. So thankful it is not running through our bed room.

So thankful for the sump pump ... went through all the flower beds

I got up at 5, had devotions and Missy and I headed to Rec center. We are signing up for Tri for a Cure in Denver August 1-5 with Mandy. I swam a mile. When I got home I worked all day outside in the flower gardens. I think I have gone through every garden and got the major weeds out. UFFTA!! That’s is over 10 wheel barrels on weeds that I have hauled off. I planted the lisianthus that I got from Burpees. Hope they produce well. Actually, I hope they live. After I ordered them I read about them and they may be a little persnickety to raise. Should have probably checked it out before hand. Life is short. Possible really short for the plants in my garden.. Missy and Phillip weeded most of the morning in the CSA garden. After lunch I helped Missy move a bed out of the folks to Cherry Creek farm only to find out that the mattress at CC was a queen size not a full size. Then back to weeding for me. Denny came home from work and we watched news. It was the first time I had stopped moving since the morning … and I was surprised that I was shot and sore … probable from swimming an hour. After supper Denny went to the unit and moved posts and cement. I went back out to weed, with the end ... of going through each of the flower beds ... in sight. ☺ Phillip had 8 youth out to work in the garden.

So thankful for the sump pump

Up for devotions. It rained again last night. The sump pump in the blue bedroom kicked in during the night. So thankful. The sump pump from our bedroom kicked in sometime during the day. Uffta!!! That would be a lot of mess for us if they were not working. I had a physical at 10. While I was in town, Denny texted and wondered if I could take him to Storm Lake to get the repo truck. I stopped in Arthur and got him about 12:30. He went back to work and I looked around in SL for a while. Then I went home to weed. After work Denny went down to the east side of the barn and picked up wood, metal, etc. I heated up a few pieces of left over pizza, took it to him and we ate down in the cement east of the barn. Missy looked into the specifics of traveling to Denver for the TRI. I hope it is a go.

Memorial Day Diane and Jay's anniversary

Happy anniversary Diane and Jay!! Nice lazy day. I am reacquainting myself with math this summer. So many things I don’t remember … didn’t learn … and so I am going through a math book. 580 pages. It will take me a long time, but I need to at least know some things that the resource students might be studying. How embarrassing not to know what stem and leaf charts, or box and whiskers are and I do get mixed up on least common factor, greatest common multiple. As I write this Anabel is running barefoot to visit with me. Blond hair flying, and aqua pants tucked up so they don't get too muddy. She has news that her dad got a snapping turtle on the road and it is in the back of the truck. I heard that the IG Pizza Hut is an island today. We have had so much rain. Guess the road between Battle Creek and IG is closed too because there is water over the road. At noon I made sandwiches and we went to the cemetery. We sat on the grass and ate. It was a time just to be thankful for our parents and all they mean to us. We are so fortunate. It just feels like a space is gone from our lives that will never be replaced. I am so thankful for the promise of heaven, but it doesn’t heal the ache in our hearts because they are no longer with us.

Rainy, Rainy Rainy Mom and Dad's anniversary

Sanity. Math book. Donuts before church. After church we went to IG and Denny got Round up for weeds at unit. Then picked up 3 pizza that we ordered on line for $10 each. Becky and 3 Grands stopped by for lunch and a visit before heading back to St. Joe. Naps and relax in the afternoon. So thankful that Becky and kids stopped for lunch here. Denny and I got pizzas. Missy and I ordered them on line … for $10 a pizza … during "visit time" in church, because we just found out that the Mo. Johnsons were coming to the farm. We ate out lunch in the coop and cousins played while Kane took a nap … and it rained and rained and rained. Becky left about 4. She said she drove out of the rain south of Denison. Boys had a measurement to see who was taller. Nothing really conclusive. First Evan looked taller, the next time Torren looked taller. Watched Net flick Hunger Games.

Sanity and got packed to drive to Wisconsin. Anabel and I left for Madison at 7:50 and got there about 1:51. Long car ride. Stopped once for gas and RR, once to fix seat belt, Drive through at Mc. Donalds. Anabel was a trooper. She colored, sang, we played a rhyming game and Names that start with ..., ate carrots, and sorted M&Ms, sorted Smarties, ate a sucker and looked at books. Good to get there. kWe worked in the basement a little. Anabel didn't think it would ever be clean. Justine came over and about 6 we left for an Ultimate Frisbee game where Kevin played. Todd was suppose to play too, but no. We went to eat after the game. Justine helped Anabel throw the frisbee.
