Brooks got a big monster plastic toy.  We went to  Jensens  to see Missy's birthday present.  Evan had spent last night at Solaza.  Denny went home to clean the garage.  I made shelving for my plants from Joyce's
Kids came about 3:00. They took baths and we went to Denison to watch Jungle Book and eat at McD.

Doctor Hogan

Rainy am.  Before my appointment, I cut up some panels for planting flowers  and I weeded grass out of 2 beds. Then to the cardiologist Doctor Hogan.   He asked questions. I had a stress test and a chest X-ray.  Everything looks fine, just osteoporosis in my spine.   Next, I met Mandy in Holstein. We got some treasures.  A couple rugs for me,   2 table/ counter tops for Denny,  some wrapping paper for Mandy,  After Mandy left, I found a glider, so she came back to look at it.  And decided to get it.  I had Denny order meat from Teifenthlers that I picked up. At Joyce's I bought snapdragons status,  cleome, liatris, asters, and zinnias.  I should have written what I bought.

Awana Awards night with Pizza

I had my window open in the bedroom and It was cold when I got up.  Very cold and windy. Mandy spent the night and took Phillip to get a car to Warren's to fix and pick up the fixed pick up in Cherokee.  It was raining so bad when I got to the school that my hair was like a wet rat.  UFFTA!  Regular day at school.  PD after school.  I worked on schedules until almost 5.  Then to the church.  We had about 235 for Family night awards supper.  70 pizzas, 35 cinnamon bread sticks.  So many great helpers with serving the pizza and setting up and selling at the Awana store.  Joyce had done a great job of purchasing for the store.  The night went amazingly well.  Lord, may each person come to know you as Lord and Savior.

OH, Yes and with the wind:

Happy Birthday Missy !!!!

Birds are singing outside my window.  Looks like a beautiful day.  The weather was wonderful 38 years ago when Missy was born.  About 10, I had a doctor appointment in Decorah.  I took my bike in and went riding with Matt on the back of the bike after the appointment.  On the way home I stopped at the golf course.  Mom was golfing and so Matt and I rode the cart with her and played 6 holes of golf.  We went home for lunch and naps.  I was going to play on a slow pitch softball team that summer and they were having practice around supper time.  I think one of the Hovden girls babysat Matt while I went to practice.  I played a little, batting practice, etc.  But when they were going to run a lap around the field after practice ... I decided NOT to do that. I just sat and watched.   Mom was eating supper at the golf course about 6:30 and so I drove out to join her.  As I got out of the car at the golf course, my water broke.  I found something to sit on, like a sweatshirt, and got back in the car and drove to the hospital.   There were no cell phones, so I called Denny from the hospital.  I think he was milking cows,  took a  quick shower and got to the hospital.  The staff had a gown ready for him to  put on and he joined me in the delivery room.   At ?? 7:24 Missy joined us. She weighed 6 pounds and 6 ounces and was 3 weeks early.  Melissa Joy Johnson.  I was so happy to have a daughter.   I called Mom who was still at the golf course playing cards and told her she had a new granddaughter.  She was shocked.
Mandy had her last clinical with Dr. Eastman in the IG hospital.  She took cream cheese coffee cake and found out that I had not copied the recipe correctly on the sheet that I give with covered jelly roll pans.  The recipe did not have baking powder or eggs.  Oooopps.   That nice Jason said that he would eat the wrong recipe coffee cake.
Great party for Missy with Mandy and Remers.  Denny grilled the Cajun tilapia that Missy bought.  Mandy made angel food class and brought fresh fruit to top it.  I used my pink spread for a tablecloth.   We also had strawberry spinach salad with toasted almonds, roasted cauliflower and broccoli, pesto and crackers, blanched asparagus with mayonnaise, and Jalapeno poppers.
The kids had a great time playing outside.  Except for the tree that fell on Gavin and the stream that Evan fell into.  The kids ate green beans, chocolate milk, and hotdogs.  All were happy.

Farmers Market Meeting ??

Slept last night from  9-5.  Great night, with the windows open and Denny vacuuming in the basement.   He had a long nap yesterday and he worked long after I went to bed.  Regular day at school.  There were 2 students that were gone in the afternoon.   I made a quick trip to the grocery store.  Before school,  I had a question if I had been threatened.  Nope.  Life is always interesting.  I thank God for his plan.  I headed home at 6 and got food ready ofor Missy's birthday supper.  I went to her house and helped bag up some candy for TAG kids.  She had broccoli and cauliflower cut for roasting.  At home I planted some dalhias.  At 6:30 I headed into the meeting for the farmer's market, Denny went to the church to help Joyce mark items for the Awana Store.  There were about 20 people at the extension office.  Looks like a good group.  Now we'll see if I get flowers to grow.  I went to the church to help mark items; we got done about 9.  She has done an excellent job of buying fun things for the store.  Thank you, Jesus, for Joyce.

Home

Finished an IEP before I did anything else.   Denny worked at the Odebolt bank.  In the afternoon Denny pushed the tree limbs into the grove with the Bobcat until the Bobcat got a flat tire. I went into IG about 4 to look at the Skate Palace and grand march at the gym.  Missy and Anabel joined me. When I got home Denny helped me mark out 2 rows for dahlias.  I also put in the hosta and canna bulbs from Susan in the front yard.  We sisters had a joint phone call, except Nancy wasn't at her house.  Gail was visiting her new granddaughter  Hope  Iris.  Such a pretty little girl. We watched a movie at night.

Meet with Becky

Denny had early bank meeting.  After I got to the HS there was some discussion on the effectiveness of rewards plan.  Then I visited with green personality to apologise about my infringement of their poster.  Pretty regular day at school.  After school, I went to Becky's and  visited about CSA.  It looks like I would need insurance and tax number.  Back at school, I worked on plans for the next weeks.  Then I walked out to the track meet.  It was a beautiful night.  Missy could use tootsie roll pops as rewards for hard working second graders, so I stopped and got them.  Denny and I visited after I got home.  He had been cleaning the coop.  Meg is using it for her birthday party.  He talked to someone who had egress windows installed. First day of school

Meet in am

At school by 7:15 for Supt. meeting.  Then to meet with principal about reward plans for 2-4 students.  Regular day at school.  One student is sick.  Did a probe down at Flex.  The weather is looking better for a track meet.  At least the sun is shining and there is not as much of a wind as yesterday.  The track meet starts at 4 with field events.  I watched part of it then met with Doug.  Yes, it would be okay with Long Live the King if I took flowers to the farmer's market and raised $ for renovation.   Denny was working on the concrete water area near the CSA barn.   We tried to get a fire going, but the wood was too wet.  We sat out by the fire pit for a while, then Denny went to work on Awana schedule and handout.  I planted 25 dahlias along the picket fence.  Susan gave me canna bulbs and hosta roots.

Nice Rain

Kind of a slow am.  School was regular.  One student got sick on the bus.  Nice gal, Judy, was a sub for one of the paras.  It rained most of the day ... and mostly when I was ready to go get in the car after school.   I got gas and then headed home.  I fixed Orange chicken for supper and we just chilled and watched a strange movie.  Once I was a Beehive.  Then watched Elementary.  Then to bed.   Mandy is baking cream cheese coffee cake tonight.  Sounds good, maybe I should make one.  But then I would probably eat it, so I guess I won't make any.

Biking in Lakeview Nope, didn't do ti

Devotions in bed. Evan's birthday.  Phillip took the kids canoeing so we had no donut takers.  Nakas were planning to go to Washington, but flights were canceled because of snow in Denver.  The flights rescheduled and the first flight would not be until Tuesday, so they canceled the trip.   Grandma Laurie came for the afternoon. Nope, we didn't go biking. Pretty windy, and having the 10 Commandments movie at 5 made it too close of a time frame.  We did nap. We  did put some salad in jars. I put some dahlias in the ground south of the bunk house.  Denny raised the handlebars of my bike.  At 5 we headed to church to watch the movie.  Good movie.  Long movie.  3 hours and 40 minutes.  About 15 -20 there  Loziers 7 Troys 5 Reese and Rose, Michelle Paul and Nancy, Ginny, D&F,

What will I do today?

Up and had devotions in the sunroom.  Looking forward to today.  In am, just was around the house.  Denny went to town and got the 4 gas containers filled.  I raked up some of the flower beds.  I should have put more roundup on weeds/grass because there are a lot of weeds and grass.   Denny grilled pork steak and fresh just picked asparagus.  I mowed the yard.   In the afternoon he cut down some trees along the creek, at least until he ran out of tordon. Oops, not a ducky good thing.  I ran the tiller around the rows of asparagus and around the flower beds in the yard.   Jensens were putting a window in the cob house. We went over to watch before we went to the HS play.  Nice day.  It was still in the 70's when we came home from town.

Doctor Appointment

UpBefore heading to the doctor appointment, I cleaned the kitchen, put away tables from Monday night supper.  Took out some trash.  Put another layer of paint on the BB hoop for Evan's birthday.  The appointment went well.  I had an EKG, got a Pneumonia shot,  and set up more tests for later.   I was in the office for over an hour and a half, but the clinical NP was really good.  On the way to SC there was road construction past Correctionville.  While in SC, I visited with homeschool families.  On the way home I met Mandy along 59.  She was heading home, I was heading to Awana.  She shared some of her glacamole with me.  YUM!  Awana was a busy night.  There is only one regular night left, then Awards/pizza night.
