Tuesday Jan 3

Anabel and I went over to see GGny, She loved the chocolate milk/kids coffee. First day back with the students. New Semester. I'm ready to feel a little bit more acquainted with the routine. Last semester of my life was any thing but routine. I'm having all (5) of my classes down in the Home Ec. room. It is used 4th hour for Foods, and it may be used for CNA classes. They used it last year, and a bed, wheel chair, commode, walker were also stored in one of the kitchen areas. Kind of nasty to have a commode in the kitchen areas, so Mrs. W. moved all the stuff out in the hall. OUCH I imagine that will cause some debate. I'm a bystander, but also involved and I don't want to stir up any ire. We'll see what happens. I know it won't be a pleasant as those 4 making cookies in my kitchen. We went to Odebolt about 5 to look at a small 4 wheel drive pick up truck for me. It didn't start ... not a good sign. We headed back to IG, ate supper with first State Bank and went to the girls BB game against MVAO. We won 82 to 22.

Monday Jan. 3 2011 12166

I didn't sleep well last night. Lots of school work to get done. Denny worked on paying bills and year end finances until 11?. Little A and I went for a visit this am. Linda was coming about 8:30 to go with Howard and Anabel to have the results of the pet scan read. It was a work day for the teachers today. I had my grades pretty well figured, but I had a lot of books, etc from last semester to put away and organize. Donna, Vicki and I went for lunch at the Family Table. I worked at school til about 4 then went to get groceries. Good News when I stopped by the folks. Anabel didn't have to have Chemo today or in two weeks. The scan was encouraging. She will have to have it checked every month. She is taking a new pill similar to the one she took for 3 years which kept the cancer away. This was good news. Pray for her to use this time to get stronger. Lots of prayers have been answered. An Email came to school today that said the Curt R. is not doing very well. Carol taught in the OA schools for many years. Denny is at a visitation for a 51 year old wife who died this weekend. Life is short. Live it to the fullest.

Sunday January 2, 2011

I got up about 6:30 and tried to finish catching up on this blog. It takes awhile when I get behind. E&A went with us for donuts before SS. As Evan and Anabel saw the smoke from the Arthur stacks they said, "There's the ethanol plant. There's the ethanol plant." Then Evan asked a good question, "Why do they call it a plant?" We didn't really have an answer for that one. Denny told him to ask his mom. Evan said he had and she said he should ask Nathan's dad because he works there. Denny drove over and got Stangls. Three people were baptised during the service. Brenda B. Mick H. and Stuart U. It was a neat service. After church, after we dropped Laura off, we drove past a black Chevy pick up for sale in Odebolt. In the afternoon Denny took a nap and I worked on grades. I wrote a note to Anabel as she goes for the reading of her pet scan tomorrow. We went to prayer time at church at 6. Denny is struggling filing a payment of money to the IRS on line. It would be so much easier if they would just take a check, but not any longer, you have to do it on line.

Sat. January 1 2011

Kinda slept in. Denny helped my get the addresses for the Christmas letters. They are all ready to go. I made some chicken potato soup and we took it to the folks for lunch. Denny brought up videos from the basement and Howard said it made his day to watch some old videos that were of his mom and dad. Denny brought the videos home and showed them to the Jensens. Anabel joined us as we went to Kim and Curits's about 5:30. Good to visit with neighboors. The kids like to ride the bull that Youslings got for grandpa's house. Mary Jo had this New Years post:
http://www.caringbridge.org/ia/matthudson/ May the Lord give you a vision for the coming months and years. May you seek His face, His direction, His love and compassion. May you learn to be patient on the timing of God. May you be secure in His love. May you find joy as you wait. May you have an attitude of gratefulness for the salvation of Jesus and may you live every day in the fullness of the Holy Spirit. May your goal for 2011 be to exercise the fruit of the spirit in every situation to run the good race with no regrets. God bless you today and in the coming year.

Friday December 31

I called Denny from Harlan at 6. He fixed us breakfast when we got there at 7am. Bruce had a quick bite, then back on the road. He wanted to beat any bad weather that was coming PLUS Maynard had a New Years eve party to go to with some high school friends. After breakfast Anabel and I went to GGny's house. At home I tried to work on entering my checks into Centerpoint; I tried updating my blog; I couldn't type in any information; I asked Missy to help, She called Luke, He said the battery light was on when he was home and it might need a new battery. Praise the Lord. That worked. I got my checks entered and the computer matches with the bank. Denny came home from work about 3:30. We watched the little ones while Jensens went to a show in Denison. We lay on pillow and blankets and watched 2 DVDs. Vegetales and Little House on the Praire. Pretty fun. Kids went to bed well. When Missy and Phillip came home we visited with them almost until midnight. Ate a yummy frozen appetizer thing that Luke left in the freezer. Thanks Luke!

Thursday December 30

Maynard and Bruce had a 7 am tee off time. Gail and I went to Wal-Mart to get some notebooks for the classes I teach and some pictures enlarged. Then Gail and Nancy took me to the golf course. Bruce had finally scored lower than Maynard on both rounds. I found 2 green golf shirts for the Newhouses with a Texas golf course logo. Bruce, Maynard and I left for Iowa from there. We left about 10 am. Drive about 5 hours, Fill with gas, Drive about 5 hours, fill with gas, Drive about 5 hours, Fill with gas. Traffic was heavy in San Antoinio, and Austin. Lots more stressful that the Kansas Turnpike. Drive 5 hours fill with gas. Oh yes, did I say we ate straight for 20 hours ( Sandwiches, apples, oranges, wintergreen mints, Cheesey snack mix, etc. etc.). We got to Ida Grove 7 am Friday morning. I had been gone exactly 7 days. I left 7am Friday Dec 24 and returned 7 am Dec. 31. Thanks Bruce and Maynard for letting me ride along. It worked out great.

Wednesday December 29

We were all up early to play golf. Tee off time was 8. I hit some balls at the driving range because Bruce, Maynard and I were in the last 4 some. It was good to play even if I didn't shoot real well. I think I shot a 47 ther first round ... and about a 60 the second. ouch!! Maynard has scored better than Bruce every round that they have played and they've played 18 holes everyday. After golf we planned to go to Boca Chica beach and eat a picnic lunch. Wisely, we decided to eat at Four Seasons and just go to the beach. It was so windy that we would have surely eaten SANDwichs. Bruce Henderson was no wimp. He headed straight into the chilly water and Maynard joined him. You can see them in the water. Now Bruce N. ran along the side of the water. I guess he did go somewhat in. We hadn't eaten very much this week .... HaHa ... so Bruce N. took us out to eat at the Golden Corral for supper. Gail, Nancy, and I toured Matt and Audry's home. More games at night.
