Thursday

Now I didn't walk last night.  Up and had devotions.  Denny headed to LV to bike 40 miles.   I weeded all of the yard rows of flowers.  Now that took all morning.  At noon, I went to Missy's to help pack/sort clothes to take to Nepal.  Bible study at 1:30 TP, JP, SG, O?, I went to help Missy instead of prayer requests and came home about 2:45.  Airbnb Jessica got stuck in the mud.  Denny and Jake went to pull the car out and she joined us for study and knew some of the same people as Teresa from KC.  I went back to help Missy pack her and Anabel's clothes.  At 5:30 we came back home and put Rose J's casserole in the oven.  Jensens washed the van.  Stephanie and Omar came to visit.  Nice family.  May they be in the center of Your will.  Open their eyes.  God works all things out.  Getting Jessica's car out from the mud.   Jessica and Teresa knowing the same people.  Omar and Stephanie coming to visit.  Missy has so many cute pictures of their kids/families together.

Doctor go ahead for RAGBRAI

Up and planted the hostas.  Hurrah I finally got it done.  Denny left for bike riding.   He went 20 miles.  Brooks, Phillip and I went to J&J to look around.  Oh, My, Did I get messed up trying to find their place.  I got some cukes.  I stopped at Jensens until they left for Leo's birthday at King's Point.  Denny's doctor appointment went well.  He got the ok to bike.  I took flowers to the fair ground for Anne.  At Bomgaars they were giving plants away.  Now to find time to get them in the ground before RAGBRAI.  When we got home I took a nap then went out to mow.  The mowing takes a short time with both Denny and me mowing.   Jensen's came over for supper.  Brats, cukes, sweet corn, zucchini, pesto, pico de.  YUM!!!  Missy tried to get me started on Shutterfly book.  UFFTA!!

full day at home

I got up and went to the train.  When I got home I went to the CSA and put flowers together for Anna for the fair queen contest.   I was thankful that Brooks came over to help.  We cleaned out the inside of the car, then he put flowers that I had cut into a container.   When Denny came Brooks helped him move the tractor loader and mower.  All of the kids went to friend's houses to play later in the day.  Before it got dark I tilled around flower beds.  Today was Denny's 53 mile bike ride.  Uffta!!  After 10 I walked 4 in the dark.

THIS IS SO SAD...

AND IT IS ESPECIALLY SAD WHEN CONNECTED WITH THIS IDEA....

NE Iowa

I slept in the trailer.  It has 5 beds, 2 are double, so 7 plus a cot making 8could sleep there.  I decided to get my walk in, so I walked over past Bruce's to the old Price long drive way.  On the way back to the pond I stopped for a quick outdoor tour/visit with Keith.  At the pond the kids had one of their favorites:pancake over sausage link on a stick.  We all went to Keith's tfor a tour of 4 buildings The gym/ old house / new house /  old hoghouse/future green house.  Then on to Decorah to have icecream at Whippy Dip and we took Mabe's pizza to Dunning spring to eat.  The road to Seedsaver was closed, so we went to Bluffton.  The upper Iowa River was pretty high from recent rains, so we didn't give the Grands any freedom to walk or float in the river.  We stopped at Bruces to say hi/bye.  Missy and the kids stayed at the pond while Phillip and I went past the winery and looked around at seed savers.  Next to clean the cabin and pack up.  Sue had been playing golf with Marilyn and they stopped to say hi/bye before we left.  We headed home around 4, stopping in Fort Dodge at Target to shop.  Good to be home.

The pond

Great day!!!!!  I enjoyed looking at the pond in the early morning and having devotions.  At 7 I went to Walmart for groceries.  830 church with coffee afterwards.  Jensens came to the pond around 10 and autimatically the kids were in the pond. They liked the kayaks and jumping off the bridge that runs between the 2 islands.  Missy, Craig, and I pulled some green out and she enjoyed raking the sand.  Phillip fished from the shore.  Later we went to Burr Oak and toured the Little house on the Prairie hotel, the iron work yard ornaments, and drove by church, cemetery, and school area.  We looked at What's New, then back to the pond.  Denny went to Storm Lake early in the am to do the bike ride put on by the bike store.  His bike broke.  I guess it was a perfect place to have it break down.  He hopes to pick up the repaired  bike tomorrow.  At 630 Newhouse brothers and Marilyn joined us for lasagne and salad.  So good to visit.  Nice campfire.  So much to be thankful for.  It was great to spend time with my brothers and my family who is traveling oh, so far away ... for oh, so long.  I laughed a lot at the baby in the picture!!!!

Heading to Decorah

I didn't feel very well when I got up, so moving slowly.  It made my day when Jody L. called wondering if I had some glads.  Craig and Andrew came and got some, so I had some cash for the trip.  Left about 10, got there about 2:30.  I was tired as I drove, so took a quick nap along the road and at Bruce's when I got there.  I went to What's New to hang out and then Craig and I went to the Red Dragon to eat.  so good.  Craig was so nice,  I told him how I have been walking at night and was a little apprehensive about walking on the busy N. Winn road, so he dropped me off on the Trout run trail, killed and hour and a half in Decorah and picked me up 3 miles later.  That was so kind of him.  Now I am in the cabin spending the night.  It is an amazing place, so glad I came.  Craig and Marilyn have taken some great trips.  He looks a lot like pictures of Dad.

Haircut

Walk thru the garden early.  Very nice out.  Haircut in Wall Lake at 8:30.  I walked to the Sauk trail.  2.5 miles   I started heading south.  Denny texted me from Carroll.  He had gone 20 miles and would head north to meet me.  We met about 15 miles from the truck.  About the last 12 miles there was a downpour.  Luckily we were at a shelter that is along the trail.  We stayed there for about an hour while a heavy rain continued.  And me being true to form, lay down on the bench and took a nap.  Actually the 10 inch plank was more comfortable than the bike seat.   Finally we left in the rain and rode the 12 miles back to the truck in the rain.  Next we drove to Sac City to get towels??  Really  ??? towels. Luckily we were only 19 minutes away.  Next as long as we were on the road, and it was too wet to mow at home, we got Denny's prescription in IG.   Naps at home and started some laundry.  Nice phone call from Matt.  Continued prayers for Sean and Shelly.  Visited with Jessica out on the deck until way late.  I didn't realize what time it was.  Uffta!!!  It was a beautiful night.
