Tuesday January 12

Long night in bed last night.  Denny watched the bachelor and I went to sleep.  I stayed in bed until 6.  I got a few containers for cookies for Ind. Living.  At school, I tried to visit with an administrator about flex day, but they were gone.   After school,  I went to order pizza for Thurs and got a few groceries.  Denny and I went to the motorcycle meeting and to eat with them at the bowling alley.  There was a home school meeting at the library,  I had to call a mom and visit about semester tests.  It was a cold day and night.

Wow, did I fly right by Monday January 11?

It went like every other day. God is good and gave me another day. I will rejoice and be glad in it.
I started the movie Temple Grandin in Englsih writing class.  Ind. Living made some cookies.  Last weekend Haley asked me to send a picture of my avacado plants to her.  I wonder why she wanted it.
Luke sent me a picture of the Goldsmiths playing the game You've been sentenced. They are in the Cayman Islands?   Karen and Luke got the game at the family auction at Christmas.  Denny had a customer come into the bank at 4 and stay until 8.   After supper we headed to bed. Such a thrilling life we have.


 

Happy Birthday Mandy

After I texted Mandy Happy birthday she texted me back and asked me what I was doing the day she was born. Fun to remember, but I don't have the baby book right here to confirm a couple of questions that may or may not be Mandy or Luke's birth circumstances. Here is what I texted her back. I think I had been at Bible study in IG at 1:30 and then went to the doctor for a weekly check up about 3:30. I didn't eat the desert at Bible study because I knew I would have to weigh in. :) (I took it with me for after the weigh in.) I think it was you that the doctor smiled and said,"If you are dilated to 6, we are sending you to the hospital." then he checked me and somberly said ," You are dilated to 6." (Actually, that might have been Luke's circumstances.) I know I went to Pamida to get something that I would need in the hospital. There I saw someone from Bible study....but I didn't say "I am having this baby today." I went to the hospital later. Great Granny was in the hospital the same day. I didn't stop to visit her. I do know that Nancy Schumacher was ready to catch you, but Dr Toben came rushing into the room, his hair a mess, just in time to catch you. We loved you ... right from the first heart beat ... and the first cry outside the womb ... and our love for you only grows more everyday. Happy Birthday. It was fun to remember the day you were born. Wow, I hadn't thought about that for a long time

I had 4 in SS class.  The two guys were active and interested in minions.  One was good looking at the table of contents and finding verses, the other knew answers to Bible questions, like "What did Moses ask for when he was leader of many people?"  We asked Bob and Teresa over for leftovers at lunchtime. Nice to visit with them.  Then we had naps.  Denny started doing his clothes.  Prayer time at 6.

Lord, guide us for the plans for today

Computer in bed at 5:30. I got up to read in the sunroom with a cup of coffee. I called my sisters. It was 72 in Brownsville and 2 here, The sump pump is still running. I was so happy when Sharon texted and said she and Jerry could come tonight. That brings it up to 10. I finished making the food. Dorito caserole, cowboy caviar, jicama, ramen noodle salad. Finished the cool whip on the chocolate cake, made peach tea, got the sweet corn thawed. About 11 we went to town. Jensens went with us to shop at Doses and go to the library.On the way to town, the gravel roads were icey and starting to drift. I was so nervous about ladies driving out to our place. Denny said, "Just chill." He said he would check the roads about 3 to make sure they could get through them. I am so thankful for Denny, I was ready to call it off because I was afraid. But it turned out to be a really nice evening. I am so thankful for my steady husband who doesn't let my emotions take over logic. After lunch we started the fire in the coop and put a fan to circulate the rising hot air. We had everything ready before 5 and so I started studying my Sunday school lesson. Denny and I, S&J, Susan and Larry, Melanie, Donna brought Karen, and L.R. They thought the jalepinio poppers were not too spicy. We visited in the living room, then ate in the sunroom and then ate dessert and played pictionary out in the coop. It was good to laugh and talk about things not in the classroom. Everyone was gone by a little after 8:30. I am not the only one who goes to bed at 8 during the school week. We cleaned up, filled the dishwasher, started some laundry, and watched a movie in bed. Nice night.

Happy birthday, Matt!!

Wow!! Matt is 39.  That's a long time of loving him.  We are so thankful to have him as a son.
The day at school went fine. One student was having problems with his cell phone.  One Eng. student sick.  One Ind living student sick.  Ind. Living made cookies.  I headed home after school. Denny said roads were slick when he came home from work. After quesidias we watched the movie.  An Ounce of Courage.  Good movie.  Thanks to all the veterans who battled for the freedom we have in this land.
      I cried when I saw Matt posted the second picture on Facebook.  I miss my dad.  He loved his grandkids so much... all of them ... all 18 of them. Mom said that almost every night when Dad got done farming he would lay down on the floor to nap or rest and us 7 kids would pile on him, just like the grands are in the second picture. You can't beat a parent's love... priceless.  I so wish the hurting students in our school had that solid rock to build their lives on. I am so blessed.

Great nights sleep last night. :) I headed to school a little early. It looks like yesterday with the sub went well. I tried to get outside and walk during my planning. Ind. Living made pancakes, sausage, and one made mac and cheese. I checked with teachers about the plan when a student returns on Monday. I stopped at Doses after school and bought 4 pretty pink plates. We signed some more papers on the windmill project. Mandy texted that she was leaving Omaha with Laura at 4:45. Everyone got here about 6:30. Fun meal with fun people. Pork Roast in the crockpot with potatoes and carrots. Tossed salad. Mint cookies. I brought my question before my girls about the weather and get together. Undecided. Mandy texted that they got home safely about 11:45. Oh, yeah, Piper was here, too.

Not feeling the best ... home

Spent 6 pm last night until 7 am this am in bed. Uffta. It took 4 texts to make arrangements for me not being at Awana. I spent most of the day in bed, too. I added up grades in the computer and researched a couple of topics with the laptop in bed. By the afternoon I was feeling better. I put a roast in the crockput for supper on Thursday night. Glad to be feeling better. I went to bed about 8 before Denny got back from Awana.  Picture of Grandparents with baby Luke.  They look so nice.
