Jensen's open house

I was up early and joined Jean in sunroom for coffee. Denny fixed breakfast for family on patio.  I splashed some gray paint on porch floor to cover paint spills.   We set up tables on patio for Nepal display, a table in garage for food, and a high table for water and lemonade under the pine tree.   Renae came at 1, Kathi at 4, and Rachel at 7 to help with keeping food bowls filled.   Through out the afternoon there was a steady influx of people.  I was especially happy that Diane Y, Linda W, Carol J and the group from Parkersburg came to visit with Jensens.   We served veggie dip, chips and watermelon.  In the kitchen we had smoked meat in a crock pot and buns for family's lunch/supper.   At 7 there was information by the Jensens.  About 76 people were at the farm during the day.  Master family helped to clean up.

Park Day

I went to OGT early AND PRAISE THE LORD, I found Mandy's red Columbia coat in the box of Women's coats.  It had not been boxed up.  It was at the bottom of the 3x3x4 foot box.  NOW I know I am losing it.  Mandy left her coat one time she was visiting ... she texted me about a week later asking about it.  I took a picture of it hanging in the front hall closet.  In the mean time we reduced the number of coats we have in the closet and when I took some to OGT it was among the pile.  UFFDA!! YUP,   I'm losing it!!  She felt bad, I felt awful!!!  I couldn't believe it.  But at the same time I have done stupider things, so I suspected that I had mistakingly taken it to OGT.  I was SO thankful that the ladies' coats had not been boxed up for shipping.  Well, that made my day!!!   I left went to Food pride to get some groceries.  Mandy picked me up and I rode with then to the high school play ground, then to the elementary park and quick look at the library,   then to Moorehead rocket park.  Denny thought it was pretty tiring doing park hopping.  We got home and mowed the lawn,  short nap, fix asparagus, corn salad watermelon, and Denny had smoked a pork butt.  It was amazing.   Schrums came about 8:30, we sat on the patio and visited and I headed to bed before the rest of the people.

Happy birthday Kane!!!

Happy birthday Kane!!!  We're praying for you.  May you grow to daily follow Christ's teachings.   Welcome to double digits!!

Up for devo and coffee.   Jensens arrived at the farm about noon.  Anabel and Evan had gotten their second covid shot in Ames.  Mandy and the boys got here after Jack's swimming lessons.  They both dosed on the way down and so it was hard for them to sleep at nap time.  SO good to be together.   At night we had Trader Joes Orange Chicken.   Renae came out to visit after going to a baby shower for Nikki.  SO good to visit, but I am not used to staying up until midnight.

Waffles

I went out to the bunkhouse after devo and hung up the new pretty aqua hanging lamp.   I put some flowers together for church.  After church we went to the golf course where the Heritage days committee was serving a waffle breakfast.  It was wonderful!!! with sausages, 8 flavors of syrup, and whipped cream.  Home for naps, only to be awakened by really bad leg cramps.  Uffda.  Now I have set apart this afternoon for catching up on the blog.   Denny started cleaning after our naps, I painted the railing for the bunkhouse.  I lowered the half circle step.

Happy anniversary, Phillip and Missy

May God continue to bless your marriage as you seek Him in all you do.

I went out to porch, rocked, listened to the rain.  We had our sister phone call.  Heritage days and Anna's wedding are probably going to be dampened by the rain, but we needed it so much.  We drank coffee in the sunroom and Denny is SO happy he got the gutters cleaned out.  It is just raining and raining and raining.  About 9:45 I left for IG stopping at the hanger and getting some treasures from Maggie's garage sale.  Then to downtown and the parade.  I love small towns and visiting with the people, that is what heritage days are all about.  The cars that Harold Godberson has are amazing!!! It was so fun to see them.  I played pickle ball with Alan Henderson.  There were 8 teams, we came out about 3 or 4th.  There was some question about rules.   At 5 Denny and I went to the all school reunion at the Skate Place.  It was fun to see everyone.  Siches got home right before we did and good to visit with them.

Friday June 25 Rain, lovely rain

I went into IG about 7:30.  Molly was going to her car, so I got a quick update on her day.   I made a quick stop at Bomgaars and then went to play pickle ball.  I bought a wooden rocker at Doses.  At home Denny was mowing so I joined him.  I went on to paint the baseboard in the upstairs of the bunk house, he did string trimming.  Denny cleaned the roof gutters out right before it started to rain.  He fixed grilled brats and sautéed onions with cream cheese ... YUM!!  I painted the stair treads before heading to bed.  Wonderful rain!!

Cherokee time

Up and headed north by 6:30.  It is fun to visit with Mandy before she heads to work on Thursday at 9:30. The boys have been running a fever and cough, but played nicely.  Jack filled the pool in anticipation of swimming this afternoon.   And they did some splashing after naps.  At home Denny had grilled brats ready for me and twice baked potatoes.   Denny also got a lot accomplished with out me around.  Fixed swing on swings, fixed base of swings, fixed and painted cabin door, put the trim around the base of the porch columns.  WoW!!!  Impressive!!!

“A young wife sat on a sofa on a hot humid day, drinking iced tea and visiting with her mother. As they talked about life, about marriage, about the responsibilities of life and the obligations of adulthood, the mother clinked the ice cubes in her glass thoughtfully and turned a clear, sober glance upon her daughter.
"Don't forget your sisters,' she advised, swirling the tea leaves to the bottom of her glass. 'They'll be more important as you get older. No matter how much you love your husband, no matter how much you love the children you may have, you are still going to need sisters. Remember to go places with them now and then; do things with them.'
'Remember that 'sisters' means ALL the women. your girlfriends, your daughters, and all your other women relatives too. 'You'll need other women. Women always do.'
What a funny piece of advice!' the young woman thought. Haven't I just gotten married? Haven't I just joined the couple-world? I'm now a married woman, for goodness sake! A grownup! Surely my husband and the family we may start will be all I need to make my life worthwhile!'
But she listened to her mother. She kept contact with her sisters and made more women friends each year. As the years tumbled by, one after another, she gradually came to understand that her mother really knew what she was talking about. As time and nature work their changes and their mysteries upon a woman, sisters are the mainstays of her life.
After more than 50 years of living in this world, here is what I've learned:
Time passes.
Life happens.
Distance separates.
Children grow up.
Jobs come and go.
Love waxes and wanes.
Men don't do what they're supposed to do.
Hearts break.
Parents die.
Colleagues forget favors.
Careers end.
BUT.........
Sisters are there, no matter how much time and how many miles are
between you. A girlfriend is never farther away than needing her can reach.
When you have to walk that lonesome valley and you have to walk it by yourself, the women in your life will be on the valley's rim, cheering you on, praying for you, pulling for you, intervening on your behalf, and waiting with open arms at the valley's end.
Sometimes, they will even break the rules and walk beside you....Or come in and carry you out.
Girlfriends, daughters, granddaughters, daughters-in-law, sisters, sisters-in-law, Mothers, Grandmothers, aunties, nieces, cousins, and extended family: all bless our life!
The world wouldn't be the same without women, and neither would I. When we began this adventure called womanhood, we had no idea of the incredible joys or sorrows that lay ahead. Nor did we know how much we would need each other.”

Paint paint Paint

I was up and headed to IG OGT.  Denny ran out of paint and had to go into IG to get more paint.  It started to rain and we waited a little and painted the porch area.  We finished around 5.  I planted the basil that I got yesterday.   Susan and Gordon stopped by later and brought watermelon for the open house.  It was a quick visit.  Nice day!!  Denny was so happy to get the painting done.   Nice Father's day phone call from Matt.

Golf at Sac City

I was up and putting flowers together to take as a door prize.  I played golf with Brenda W. from Storm Lake.  It was really a nice day.  The other 2 with us were Shiela Barrett ???  and Linda.  Brenda and I shot a 45 ... playing well ... except for the 2 greens that were so NOT level and we 4 putted.  Uffda!!!  On the way home I stopped at Thistle down and bought some basil.  At home I napped and then I went out to paint.  Denny had gotten a lot done.  At 6 we went to Mary Kay and John R.  It was so fun to walk around their home and all the space around them.

It rained !!!   Thank you, Lord, (and we could use more).   I went out and put together flowers for church. Phone calls for Denny for Father's day.  I am so thankful for our church family.  After church, naps and them I weeded for about an hour.  At 3:40 we headed to Cooks for supper.  There is a lot of hail damage from the storm that went thru Ida County Thursday night.

Schrums visit... YEA!!!

Beautiful morning.  We drank coffee, made phone calls, watched the smoker, and enjoyed the wonderful day.   Denny made a great breakfast, scrambled eggs, banana muffins, strawberries, peaches, and bacon.  We walked around the farm and looked at building.  Jean wanted to go to the quilt store in Denison before it closed at 3.  It was a fun trip.  We stopped at The Junkery, too.  When we got back we ate the wonderful smoked ribs, corn on the cob, and watermelon blueberry salad.  It was SO good.  Schrums wee heading back thru Manning.  We loaded the dishwasher and chilled after they left.   I finished listening to the book, A Voice in the Wind by Francine Rivers.  Luke ran a half marathon at Grandma's.  Haley and Wyatt had driven there to watch Wyatt's mom run.  Beautiful day.  Renae's flower girl got married today.
