Sunday July 4,2010

We woke about 6:50 and I said to Denny, "We could almost make it to our church if we left soon." It wasn't raining then, but we put on our rain gear as we left about 7:40. Missy had fixed egg sandwiches. Phillip had made coffee before he headed to work. We were about in our trip about an hour when it really started to rain. Thankfully we got home about 11. Pretty wet and chilled. (But not nearly as cold as the polar ride we made home from Decorah April 2005.) I took a hot bath, Denny read the paper. Then naps. About 5 Jensens and Ranessa and Ryan pulled into the driveway. They had come to see the farm. The vans had no more than stopped when 3 little guys burst forth ... heading to the park ... the trampoline ... the chicken coop ... the garden ... Evan, Caleb and Micah were at the farm. Anabel and Hope took some time to visit and socialize before heading outside. We fixed hot dogs and had chips for supper, plus cream puff dessert. They headed to Battle Creek for the fire works. Gary and Kim had been at the folks and stopped to visit and pick up pictures of Mom & Dad that Knop had done. It was so nice to sit out by the fire pit and visit. It sounded like they had a great vacation. When they left we headed to BC and got there just in time for the first sparklers. Pretty special night to lie with my grand daughter and watch the fireworks. At the farm later it was evident why this bed time is an infrequent occurrence. R&R and family stayed in the basement. After a melt down the Jensens got the E&A to bed in the laundry room and B fed. Pastor's families are too tired on full Sunday night to sit by a nice fire, but Denny and I enjoyed it.
