Play ball!!!

I got up too early and had my devotions and then went back to sleep.  I needed flour and sugar for baking for FM so I headed to town.  I stopped to visit with Judy.  At home  I rinsed the spinach and put it in 14.5 ounce bags.  I rinsed the asparagus and put it into bundles.  I started the drip hoses on rows of flowers.  I finished weeding the south asparagus row.  Washed the bedding and blankets and put them in drawers.  About 4:30 I headed to town and got 2 bags of sand for the sand table.  Grands had said the cat had pooped in the sand.  Uffta!!  Time to get new sand and bleach the sifting toys to disinfect them.  Denny had 3 appointments in IG so I picked him up and we headed to ball games.  First at 6 to Sac City to watch Evan.  He made contact with the ball and got on base.  Twice.  Fun to watch him playing catcher.  Then we left at 6:45 to head to IG where Anabel was playing.  She did a good job of pitching.

Home

Another beautiful morning!!!  I love when it feels fresh and cool.  AND when I am not going to teach SPED at the high school.  I kept busy all morning cleaning the house, vacuuming, dusting, pledging the doors, washing clothes, taking out trash, sweeping the garage, After lunch 3 hours of mowing.  Oh, does the grass fly??  Long shower afterward.  And cleaned the shower. :)
I grilled for supper: potatoes, onions, pork steaks, pork burgers, and Jensens came over.  Plus asparagus and strawberry spinach salad with bacon. It was so nice.  I love to spend time with them.  We staged some outdoor pictures for the bnb.

Thank you Dad, Craig, Betsy, Bruce!!

Thanks for serving our country.  I went to the veteran's service at 11 at the Skate Palace.  It was good.  At 12:30 we headed to Denison for Anabel's recital.  So much fun to watch the students.  Denny got some tomatoes and planted them when we got home.  He had already weeded his potatoes and onions.  I started weeding south row of asparagus and putting volunteer sunflowers inbetween asparagus.  So weedy!!!

Bridge Race

Gail and Bruce gave me a ride to the 5K start.  As I ran I thanked God that I am so blessed.  I had 4 kids running and 2 sons in law and 6 Grands and 2 spectators.  Amazing!  Thank you Jesus!  We came home to chill.  Schrums had gone to visit Darlys.  Denny rode his bike 40 miles to Cherokee.  I got to Cooks about 2.  About 60 adults, 20 kids, the weather was perfect, great food and visiting.  Matt had a flat tire on the way there.  Jensens had Anabel's recital and so some could not be there.  We brought Brooks with us.  After we got home, we worked on answering a bnb question.  Luke came in to the computer room to say hi.  He said he left and went back to his room ... so his parents would not be divorced when he got up in the morning.  He looked up bnb info on his phone and then would text what he found out to us.  Thanks to Luke we are still together.

Dress Rehearsal

I woke up after sleeping in Cook's great extra bed.  It felt as soft as sleeping between 2 marshmallows.  I started blanching asparagus.  Then we washed windows.  Jan came and we decided which serving bowls to use.  I left for home about noon.  I tilled around flower beds and finished planting zinnias from Keith.  At 5 I headed to Denison where I met Gail,  Bruce headed north to ride bikes with Denny on the Sauk Trail,  Gail and I went to the dress rehearsal to watch Anabels' gymnastics.  Very fun.  Schrums stayed the night, too.  Great to visit.

Yes. Rose is there!!!!  I am sure she is smiling.  :)

Baby shower

Fun day.  It seemed like I was plumb full of stuff to do this am.  I mad coffee cake and banana muffins,  Oh, wait, may be that was yesterday.  I cleaned the big bag of spinach I had picked yesterday and made 2 batches of creamed spinach.  The recipe took cream cheese and it was good.  I went over and mowed the Jensen lawn.  I rototilled next to the barn and planted some zinnias.  I wrapped the baby cook present.  Bible study gals came at 1L30.  SG, TP, EP, JP. RT, PG, and Mary Kay R. and me.  After study MK drove over some long grass and her fron tire went into the ditch.  Mike T. came with his pickup and saved the day.  But we did get some good laughs out of it.  Susan mentioned that Whitney was coming home from Portland today and it was 25 years ago that they got her from Korea.  I went down and found a picture.  Thank you Jesus for Whitney's life and the love she added to the family.  I left at 5:15 ro drive to Cherokee for Mandy's baby shower.  So cute !! Many nice gals.  Mandy great gifts.  We cut up veggies for cowboy caviar.

Omaha

Laura had quite a full lap on her way to Storm Lake.  She listened to class review notes for the semester test she was going to take.  Plus Isabelle wanted attention when we stopped for road construction.  I got home about 11.  Patrick, Tyler, JJ and Brad had finished their assignment and were checking out.

Garden work

I picked asparagus to take to Mandy's this weekend.  Then I headed to Mapleton.  Bomgaars had State Fair zinnias for sale.  The rabbits ate my zinnias that I had put in the garden.  (Actually, Denny shot 2 rabbits yesterday am.  So happy that they got their just due.)  I met with Karen, Tira and Zoe at Green Acres.   Driving home thru IG I gave Anna and Julie the IAA scores. At home I planted zinnias and dahlias from Keith.  I only have 2 rows left to plant.  Hopefully zinnias and sunflowers that I put in soil blocks yesterday.  When Denny got home he and I made stakes for floral netting.  Nice supper of brats and creamed spinach on the deck.  I met Patrick and Tyler from St. Louis.   Later I met Brad from New London and JJ (Juan Jose) from Idaho.  Great to have bnb.

Who can turn the world on with her smile?

Who can take a nothing day and suddenly make it all seem worthwhile?

Well, it's you girl and ... you should know it
with each glance  ... and every little movement ... you show it.
Love is all around.

I slept well in the new double bed.  We left for Karen's hair appointment at 9:45.  It was a nice one and a half mile walk.  We had coffee in the NE Minneapolis area and fed Rose.  Karen put the wrap around me and she helped me put Rose in it.  While Karen got her hair done Rose and I went exploring for 2 hours.  Walked to 3 garage sales and stopped in 6 + stores to look at stuff.  It was so fun to have Rose with me even tho she mainly slept,  This thought fit my feelings...

MY VIEW for 2 hours   so sweet!!!

We came home and Karen fed Rose.  By accident we left the "wrap" where Karen got her hair done.  Luke and Karen went to get it and I told them to go do something.  They went to Minihaha Falls and Rose napped while I took a shower.  Then she and I chilled til the parents got home at 6.  Jason and Mandy got there about 6:45.  We walked to the Red Cow and had great burgers.  Back to the  apartment to visit.  Jason and Mandy took me to Keith's before driving to Erin's in Bloomington. That was so nice.  I really don't like driving in big cities when I have no idea where I am going and my Google maps doesn't work quite right on my phone.  Nice visit with K&J before heading to bed.

YES ROSE is there, too.  I am sure she was smiling.

Roseappolis

Wonderful day !!! As I ate breakfast with Nancy and Gail I thought ... Thank you Jesus,  Life is so sweet.  Does it get much better?  I left about 9 to head to Minneapolis.  The drive thru Wisconsin could not be prettier.  Spacious roads lined with trees.  The 94 interstate in Minneapolis ... not so much.  Hated it!!!  But it was worth the agony on my part to get to Karen, Luke and Rose's.  Nice digs!!!  A corner apartment gives windows on 2 sides.  I got there about 2.  After Rose had a meal we walked to a grocery store and back to fix spinach artichoke dip and guacamole.  Keith and Jane got here after 6.  We walked to Jun's and ate Chinese.  From there Keith lead us to the baseball stadium where there was a game playing.  It would be fun to walk to a baseball game on a nice summer day.  Wonderful walk on brisk spring night.  (It was cold when I got out of the Prius at 2 in my shorts.)
Rose was amazing!!! she just slept in Karen's swaddling all night.

Second leg of tag team arrives

Nancy said she slept okay, soundly when she did sleep, but probably about how she usually sleeps. Harder to move, sleep on her side and then harder to roll over to other side.
I went to Hillside farmers market and to get carpet cleaner for place where I spilled my tea on Sunday night.  Note to self ... and this could be just a ditto note because it happens so often ... If you leave something not done right ... probably it will make a mess and it will take Faith longer and cause more stress by making a mess than the time it would have taken to  just do it right the first time.  Some how I was encouraged at Amelia's party when another gal was just going to do a quick thaw on cream cheese in microwave so she could use it quicker  ... and it ended up exploding in microwave ... causing extended clean up time.   I love it!!!  Thanks for living my life reality.  Misery loves company!!!  Gail got here about 2.  We had a light lunch and went to Todd's while Nancy was suppose to rest.  About 6 Coburns came with pasta salad and fruit.  Gail fixed Bratts and I fixed guacaamole.  Fun time visiting.  Denny said Kristina left the bnb so nice he wasn't sure which bedroom she used.
